I think that was before 1970. The point being there is more supply, more demand and more guns.
I left shotguns in the trunk many times at high school from early hunts or afternoon hunts. Not many mass shootings happen with shotguns.

And the blue cities are all soft on crime, which means there are people moving out to where I am (a small town)( while commuting to said blue cities for work. Because of that, neighborhoods are being created and houses being built up and down the main roads that lead to my hometown. In fact, my hometown was projected to have several tens of thousands of new residents in it by 2030. That's five years from now.
