You have not explained once how WE started this war.

The logic behind that is NATO overreach thru expansion. I'm inclined to believe that NATO got too aggressive with wanting to expand to right on Russia's border. I think stopping at the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Poland should have been enough. That's a plenty solid buffer to protect the original NATO members who were originally on the frontline. It should have been reward enough for Germany and the like to have Poland as their buffer for example.

I'd even argue that NATO should have found a way to fade into history. Putin may have never came to power if the west would have welcomed Russia more honestly. If East Europe didn't trust Russia, then maybe the better call would have been for them to form their own defense alliance against Russia - ran by them. Maybe if we were talking about "EETO" (Eastern European Treaty Organization) and allowed them to buy arms from the west then we wouldn't be in this mess today.

IDK, maybe it wouldn't matter.

Figured you couldn’t answer and defend your accusation. If you can’t make a reasoned post about how WE started this war then just post bullchit and think you’re genius.

If you admit I pissed you off like this, it will just make me act worse.

NATO aggression is a straw man argument used by rasPutin to rally his uneducated and the Putintards of the world against the west. Just look at the results he has accomplished. Two more NATO members. One directly on his border. He always wanted to reclaim the old USSR. I think Putintards ignore this fact to place blame elsewhere. As for NATO expansion, that organization has never recruited members. All members have asked willing to join for one reason and one reason only. Russian emperialism. Some will claim here that we had a deal of some kind with the USSR that no more eastern states would join NATO. Well that was never agreed to in documentation nor ratified by anyone. Besides that fact the USSR no longer exist so any treaty that may have been with that entity is no longer valid. Russia started this war at the command of Putin. No one else. No bumbling idiot in the WH gave him permission. That bumbling idiot did signal we would only pretend to care but make no mistake about it, Putin was the sole instigator in this human tragedy that has cost perhaps nearly a million lives and destroyed countless more.

Maybe Putin uses it as his strawman today. But tbf, NATO never went away despite this organization being created to prevent the USSR from expanding westward to take all of Europe. I get it that the west won the Cold War. But that's the tricky part isn't it - there never was an actual war where winners and losers could be officially designated and terms hammered out. It went along the lines though.

If you're a Russian citizen and see how NATO never went away despite the USSR collapsing and Russia becoming a sovereign country again...what are you to think? After awhile, wouldn't you be wondering why does NATO want to expand eastward when the USSR is gone? Probably how Putin got power in the first place...among other things.

RE: Trump says Putin has Days to Figure It Out
To get back to the topic of this war, rasPutin, you know, that great guy, has arrested another billionaire oligarch. Stolen his money and seized his property. How many of these mob guys will it take. He has frozen bank accounts and frozen food prices. Most of his refineries have been damaged and others shut down for fear of Ukrainian drones. He is now in panic mode.

If Trump plays this right it will not be much longer until rasPutin is finished. Unable to continue the war.

This has always been a silly argument. First, NATO is a defensive alliance. Secondly, NATO never conquered territory----if new nations joined its because they ASKED to join the organization and were accepted. Sovereign nations get to decide their own policies and security arrangements. Third---prior to the invasion of Ukraine, NATO nations were spending less and less on defense---to the point Trump was angry that the EU nations were no longer capable of providing for their own DEFENSE and were almost entirely reliant on the US defense budget to fill the deficit (this was the so called "OFFENSIVE" threat Putin feared---really?).

Finally, the reason NATO never went away is because nuclear weapons did not vanish when the Soviet Union went away. Russia still had the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons in the world. NATO was the agreement that granted all those European nations protection via the US nuclear umbrella. NATO was never going to go away---and if it ever does, expect rapid mass nuclear proliferation among Western nations with the resources to build a nuke. Those nations were never going to voluntarily give up nuclear protection---the only way NATO would have gone away is if the US walks away---and even then you'd end up with European nuclear proliferation and a new organization of European nations that together would provide a nuclear umbrella for the European nations that do not have nukes. Likely, that organization would look just almost identical to NATO sans the US (and probably would have even included Ukraine). Would the US likely be allies with such an European defense organization---yeah---America probably would have been---so the overall dynamic would not be much different even if NATO had dissolved.

NATO as the cause of the Ukraine war has ALWAYS been a straw man argument----and a weak one at that.

Where I do agree the West screwed up is the US and the West in general should have been far more helpful in aiding Russia in the monumentally difficult task of transitioning their economy from a fully government owned communist economy into a private ownership capitalistic economy. That was a horrible time for Russia and THAT terrible period is what gave birth to the rise of Putin.

Again though, there was talk of having countries join NATO all the way to the Russian borders - which even Ukraine was being considered prior to the Russian invasion. How does NATO factor into discussions with nuclear powers outside of NATO and Russia? China has them. Israel, India, Pakistan and N Korea does too. We know the UK and France though they are in NATO. Too many countries have them now for it to be dealt with among just NATO and Russia. On top of that we are so well versed on the implications of using them are that no country will use them arbitrarily. We're already to the point that if one nation uses them first in any war...the rest of the world would immediately turn on aggressor. So NATO justification because of nukes seems outdated.

Every country has a right to their own sovereignty...until a major power(s) feels otherwise. NATO could easily say no to the countries who applied for membership prior to the Russian invasion. The U.S. told Cuba it didn't have sovereignty when we forced Soviet nukes off the island. So it's "tricky" when we talk about sovereignty and countries rights.
