Beat me to it, Counselor. Just think how much fun we could have had with Clarence on a variety of topics in the last few weeks.
My bad.
You've already retracted your part of the bet, oruvoice. I'm the one who hasn't.
And I am not at all sorry for that. This forum, in my view, is a much cleaner place without him. Interesting and sometimes contentious points get raised and actually debated without his dishonest rhetorical vandalism. The remaining trolls are mostly a joke. He is not, and I will regret it when he returns.
In my own opinion, I have done this forum an enormous favor. I have even changed my signature so as to give myself a small pat on the back for it. So far as I am concerned, the only thing that we are missing in tanq's absence is the exchange of mind-numbingly repetitive insults. I, for one don't miss that one bit.
If you oruvoice, or anyone else, want to create a 10-day poll asking whether I should should likewise retract my bet, I will go with the majority decision. Make it anonymous. But know that I unashamedly will vote that he NOT return until his 3-month penance is done.
@ Orkin Man
Oh, I don't care if he comes back or not. He didn't really bother me that much, usually. I think tanq is probably a decent enough guy but he let Trump break his mind.

Why should any forum desire to have an individual who gets his jollies by screwing up discussion, undermining any improvement in the thoughts being shared, and who destroys his own position as much as that of the opposition by his methods and desire to drag the rest of the world into his own crappy world view? Dissembling is his norm and there is no more infuriating form of argumentation and that is why it is a punishable offense here. 3 months is lenient considering the duration of it all.

On topic: I'm so, so overjoyed to see justice and common sense prevail. I'm also glad the jury ultimately didn't let Black Lives Matter and other race hustlers intimidate them. Penny did nothing wrong, and I'm glad the jury saw that.
About tanq: I'm sorry, JR, but I'm with AM on this one. (Heck, stinkfist will back me up on this.) Tanq is actually a decent guy away from the boards. (Sorry. I've been saying "the boards" lately when describing this place. I guess it's a habit I developed when talking about another message board forum I used to frequent a lot over the years.) If he didn't have TDS, he'd be a decent member here. What we need to remember, regardless of whether or not he has TDS (he does, for the record), he's a trained lawyer who argues for a living. Of course, he's going to argue the littlest thing that may have no consequence because that's what he's trained to do. If it gives him an edge in any argument, especially a legal one, he's going to use it and harp on it until the cows come home. (I'm not taking up for him; that's just how a lot of the lawyers I've met over the years are.) Now whether or not that's against the rules here, I can't say. At the same time, why does this surprise us? It shouldn't. My hope -- nay, my prayer -- is that this sabbatical from the Spin Room, intentional or not, will allow him to reevaluate his approach (or at least his TDS) and come back a different person on here. I certainly hope that ends up being the case.

Truth be told I dislike attorneys who think their law degree makes them an expert on everything law related. He's never done any legal work in the areas he bloviates about on here.

Fair point, rath. I do think he should "stay in his lane" when it comes to legal stuff, but this is a free country, which means he's free to speak his mind about anything he wants. And that should be something we should all celebrate because if he can't, eventually, we won't be able to either. (I'm speaking from purely a Constitutional standpoint here, not in terms of the Spin Room or even the boards in general.)
And I would be remiss if I didn't say this: Hopefully, this country even more free after Trump leaves office for the second time in '29. I'm so grateful we dodged the bullet that is Kamala Harris.

if for nothing more than a 'belay' ... I'll take it vs. any of the other alts posited to date...
Try respecting the jury verdict as the Manhattan D.A. office is doing.
The absolute bottom line is Jordan Neely FAFO. Poor choices ALWAYS carry a price. The REAL lesson is sh1t happens when you threaten strangers on subways or in other public spaces. Some citizens will take a stand and address the threat.
Neely OWNS the ramifications of his seriously poor choices in a public setting.
The absolute bottom line is DON'T START NONE, WON'T BE NONE.
It's just that damn simple.
Yes, the vast majority of US citizens, regardless of race, will indeed celebrate Christmas.

Back on track. I saw a picture of Mr. Penny at a Bar having a drink with his lawyers. What ever he was drinking I bet it was one of the best drinks he ever had.

I doubt that he will be buying his own drinks for a very long time.

Amen, brother! (And I should make a point of clarity for the discussion at large: I think tanq should stick to his area of expertise in terms of his being an attorney, but again, free country and all.)

you're both right ... I'm not digging 'nails' into this one...
IMO, it's time to close this chapter on tanq ... the bottom line is it's nothing but beneath him to acknowledge DJT centrist principles ... over time, it's what some of the Rice U have become ... (thank you GO and mostly #s for not succumbing)

Right wing attorneys are going to start "coming out of the closet" so to speak. Wasn't that long ago Trump and Trump supporters couldn't kidnap an attorney to represent them. IMO, that all changed after the Rittenhouse trial, and has only gotten stronger. The Chauvin dude should be given a new trial after all of this. He would be released quickly. That trial was a farce. People don't die from having a knee in their back.
