Frankly, I couldn't care less about that.

I give you, Bill Clinton.

Yeah I don't give a dang.

I'm not looking to date him. Just want him to be an improvement over the clown who is in the job now.

And this^^^

RE: Trump nominates Fox News host, veteran Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense

Quote:You left out that Hegseth is twice a bronze star recipient, served 20 years in the military including Iraq and Afghanistan, is a veterans’ advocate, and is Ivy League educated.

Characterizing him as simply a Fox News host is a despicable lie of omission.

This bull**** is why your party was wiped out in the election.

Are you all not capable of learning anything, or do you plan to just keep imploding?

Quote:Pete Hegseth isn’t a TV host.

He’s a decorated military leader and all-American bada**… who became a TV host.

He’s a Princeton and Harvard grad too.

Would you prefer an overweight DEI pick like Llyod Austin who is hospitalized in secret, or Mark Milley who is focused on "white rage" and back-channeling with the CCP?

Pete is EXACTLY who you want running DOD.

Unlike these mopes running our military, he’s commanded a battalion and took enemy fire. He lost friends. He sacrificed for this nation.

The more they resist the more you should support him.

DC is just shocked that he’s not on the board of Raytheon or Lockheed-Martin because then they know their money flow is about to dry up

I feel the same. His past personal practices doesn't mean anything. All i was saying was that he needs to keep it clean moving forward. Dude is a great pick based on his military service and endeavors since for vets.

He is the first appointment causing pause for me. The DOD is a massive entity entrusted with protecting us from our enemies and he has no large scale management experience.

The current "4 Star General" leading DOD, lied and covered up he was having a major medical procedure. His 2nd in command was out of country and not informed. He didn't utilize his large scale management experience.

And this is a good thing.

I have questions about that, as well. Not saying he can't do a good job.

But I worked with the DoD for about 15 years as an outside business consultant, trying to get them to run the industrial part of DoD (shipyards, etc.) like a business.

It was a thankless job. We would make progress, but as soon as we took our fingers off the scale, they would go right back to their old BS.

The DoD is a MASSIVE org structure with zero outside accountability, and in addition, they are in bed with the largest defense contractors in the world.

It's a snake pit. Yes, Hegseth is a standup guy, but this is not a job for just one guy, and he is fairly young, and never managed anything, much less one of the largest, most entrenched orgs in the world.

I just feel like it's too little ammo. Patton, I would trust. Not Pete. He needs a few strong aides to help. Hopefully, he figures that out quickly.

I doubt he can get anybody to change. So usually, you would just lop off the bad apples. But in this case, you can't do it wholesale, b/c the DoD has an actual mission to protect our country. You can't just tear it down and start over.

It's a helluva task. Honestly, I wouldn't think any one man could do it. I hope he develops one helluva team. You're going to have to chop down some amount of depth to jettison the worst actors, but how far in each area will be tricky.

Bad move.

Honestly not sure if he can get confirmed in a 53-47 Senate. This one might get walked back in a few days.

I say it's a good nomination because he knows firsthand how FUBAR the DOD has the potential to be --and in some ways, actually is. But hey, I've been known to be wrong before.

A schizophrenic cat would have been better than the incompetent sycophantic simpletons in the Biden Administration, but I believe merit should drive appointments and I am not convinced Hegseth was the best candidate. Nevertheless, I wish him nothing but success.

The DOD IS FUBAR, not just potential to be. I was in the middle of it for 15 years trying to change it for the better. And we had a huge team working on it. I regularly met with the Secretary of the Navy.

We would agree on some major change, and the Sec would relay the order down the ranks, and before it got to the men who had to execute it, someone would decide they didn't like it, and just sh!tcan it, before anybody could act on it.

Maybe this is different. Maybe you just have to cut out all the woke advocates at the top. I really think that's what they plan to do. Maybe that's all.

If so, maybe Hegseth can make it work. We'll see.

yeah, Skillz matter more than pedigree these days. Many companies are finding this out and some are acting on it. Deduication to Mission means more than connections to MIC.
