Maybe Trump *shouldnt* have tried to short circuit the counting of electors in '20 to benefit himself with no legal basis.
Yes, I absolutely call that a threat to democracy. Should people simply cover their heads up with a hood and not note that? Seriously?
And not even getting into the issue of throwing out a metric ton of false comments about the election, and using that to instigate a riot at the point of counting the ballots.
Maybe if he hadnt pulled *that* ****, there wouldnt be reason to call him a 'threat to democracy'. Imagine that.
They called him that before 1-6-24 and you know it. I guess Kamala is a threat based on her past comments on the 1st and 2nd amendments.
No, they didnt say he was a threat to democracy prior to 1/6/21. He definitely earned that moniker then.
I am absolutely against Kamala's comments on 'assault rifles'. But nice strawman. And an awesome diversion into another issue completely.
Your memory is short.
Sure it is.
A couple of pre-1/6/21 photos for you to peruse, tanq.: https://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2016/1...st/507248/
Your forthcoming insanely stupid response is easy to forecast: "None of these pictures use the words 'threat to Democracy'." As if only you get to control the plain meaning of the English language. And then you'll resort to some sort of ad hominem attack, all the while claiming that it is poor you who is being mistreated.
"Threat to democracy" would have been a kind version of what Democrats were saying about Trump pretty much from the moment he announced as a Republican. And I'm willing to admit that I have been (and continue to be) highly critical of Donald Trump's countless shortcomings as a human being.
But what you do is worse. Like any progressive (much as you deny it), you think you get to redefine the meaning of words. It is unbecoming, and it is a form of lying.
It is also a shame, because you otherwise might have something to contribute to the discussion. At least you would if you weren't such an insistently unpleasant prevaricator.
Do you really think any comments prior to 1/6/21 have the emotional impact of the comments after that event?
And yes, after the event they *are* emotional bullets. Absolutely.
Maybe they have the emotional impact because of what Trump pulled around the election of 2020.
Great. The right complains that 'oh golly, the term 'threat to democracy is loaded. Dont use it. Its not nice.'
What do *you* call a person who literally asks for the electoral slates of 7 states to be thrown in the garbage bin? What do *you* call a person who asks that the electoral slates, all accompanied by a certificate of ascertainment from the respective states, and having zero ongoing lawsuits as to their validity -- simply be replaced with others having the same legal backing as if he pulled them out of a box of Capn Crunch?
And Im not even getting into the whipping up his followers with constant, unsubstantiated lies about the election, culminating in him inciting them to vent their frenzy at the Congress. Nor his attempt to get the DOJ to send false reports of electoral cheating to state governments/ Nor his explicit attempt (along with a threat of criminal prosecution) to have a state SoS simply find him votes.
What do *you* call the above? A "champion" of democracy? Gods gift to the democratic process? Trump directly threatened the democratic process during the time between the election and the counting in *multiple* ways. Yes how fing dare people use the phrase 'threat to democracy'.
And yes, the term really doesnt have an impact prior to the **** he pulled. Kind of like the righties yelling 'communist' at everything Biden / Harris has done to this point.
None of the above seems to cross your radar.
Im looking forward to what *you* think is an 'acceptable' description of Trump trying shitcan the votes of 7 states and roughly 25 million people for no reason other than his fing ego problems, and trying to replace it with stuff he literally pulled out of fing thin air. That is since 'threat to democracy' is so utterly misdescriptive and incendiary.
