Removing reminders of the past is a story that could eventually affect all of us.

Why remove statues? Because it is part of the socialist / Marxist / Communist playbook to eliminate all things that could be taught in opposition. You know, like Washington and Jefferson and freedom and the Constitution and the 1A and 2A, etc.

If citizens aren't aware of what they lost, they won't miss it, or want to rise up to regain it.

That’s simply a load of hyperbolic nonsense. So many of the offensive confederate statues were erected in the 1920’s & 1930’s to rewrite & glorify the lost cause of the confederacy & placed by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

I just find it amazing this dipsh1t mayor is trying to appease the SFO citizens by removing/eradicating all statues/memorials of white men from that economically challenged and under-policed city.

The problem is NOT the white people - especially the ones from 2+ centuries ago that founded SFO. THE PROBLEM IS THE MASSIVE NUMBER OF BUSINESSES CLOSING UP SHOP AND GTFO OF SFO IN DROVES.

Breed is putting a "feel good" policy in place to take the FOCUS off the fact SFO is in a serious economic crisis, while also enduring a crime increase. The rational citizens that have the financial means are packing up and moving out of that overpriced and crime ridden place.

Breed created the lack of police presence in SFO the past 4 years. She cut $120m from the SFO PD and the county Sheriff's Dept in 2020. A 2022 analysis showed SFO needed 500 more police officiers just to get back to 2,100. Thus, SFO and the surrounding communities are truly "feeling the impact" of that horrific budget cut. The good news is there are not many violent crimes; most crimes are property crimes and larceny theft.

Breed is in her second term as mayor and has contributed to the collapse of SFO.

No doubt. A friend of mine lives in San Leandro, just east of Oakland up in those hills. He will be retiring in early 2025 and will relocate to Knoxville (where his wife is from). They both have a rather pointed opinion of Breed and the overall COL in the Bay area. My friend has begun his research of homes in the Knoxville area and said he could buy two large houses in Knox County for what he is paying in San Leandro.

Breed replacing Newsome.....ouch.....I'll observe from the relative sanity of my suburban home outside Memphis.

My aunt and uncle bought a house in the marina district of San Francisco years ago back when it was one of the best city’s on the planet. Upon their passing a couple of years, my dad sold it immediately. I asked him why he sold it and he said “great neighborhood” but the rest of the once beautiful city “is now a garbage dump.”
Such a shame.
