Harris VP Candidate : The pick
Keep an eye on the power brokers of the Democratic Party. The nominating process starts tomorrow (Thursday) and runs through Monday. Curiously I can't find anything that says the process will be public like the roll call of states. That has to happen before a VP candidate is announced
There are a few of telling signals on who might be the Democrats #2.
For the last couple of years the legacy media has pushed Newsom as the next great liberal politician. Since Joe stepped down, with Obama and Kamala pushing him out the door, Newsom talk is suddenly gone. It's looking like he's avoiding hitching his wagon to Harris.
Also take a look at the names you're seeing pop up as running mates. Look at their ages: Kelly is 60, Shapiro is 51 and Beshear is 46. Kelly and Shapiro are both from states Harris must win if she has any chance of winning the White House. Shapiro and Beshear are younger and can still have a future in the party.
Kelly is 60. If he agrees to be Kamala's running mate, he's doing so knowing this might be his last chance to run on a national ticket. He's in a tough spot. Unlike Shapiro and Beshear he isn't young enough to overcome anchoring his career to a candidate who has been called "unusually unpopular" at times. If Harris losses the race, unlike Shapiro or Beshear, Kelly doesn't have time to rehabilitate his image.
Shapiro is from PA, another state Kamala must win to win the White House. Unlike Kelly, Shapiro is young enough to overcome a failed White House run. If he isn't the VP candidate, he's young enough to start making a run for the 2028 nomination.
Then there's Beshear who suddenly seems to be everywhere. Harris isn't winning Kentucky, regardless of who her running mate is. Beshear has been rumored to be running for Mitch's seat in 2026. Losing to Trump isn't going to change that fact. This is Beshear's 6th year as Governor of Kentucky. At no time has there been any indication he has national office ambitions... none.
Unlike the other three, Beshear's name came from out of nowhere. He was in Iowa campaigning for Harris last weekend. Then you see him behind Kamala holding a sign at last night's rally in Atlanta. Beshear had spent the day campaigning for Harris in Atlanta.
The Harris' campaign wish list as I see it.
1. Shapiro - Harris needs PA. Shapiro might be hard to get if he has national aspirations.
2. Kelly - I believe he wants it but he's from a border state that's done nothing to stop illegals from pouring across the border. Kelly highlights one of Kamala's biggest problems. Open southern border and her failure to secure it for the Biden administration.
3. Beshear - Wants it. Wants it real bad. Not being from Kentucky you might not know him but he's slick as Clinton but he lacks Bill's charisma. Beshear is a young John Kerry. A big, stiff, rich white guy. He's said to be likeable but I don't know why.
If you don't know who Beshear is look at the crowd behind Harris at last night's Atlanta rally. He's the guy scared looking white guy holding the Harris sign in the middle of a bunch of black folks.

Nobody falls up as much as Dems in PA..
Shapiro really didn't do much as AG... He really hasn't done much as governor.. Kinda like Fetterman as Lt. Gov and now US Senator.

Quote:The Harris campaign is pressing Wall Street donors to cut their checks as soon as possible, citing a financial rule that bars contributions to tickets featuring a sitting governor, according to people familiar with the matter.
Why it matters: The urgency of the requests has led some donors to conclude that Harris plans to pick a governor — and not a senator, like Mark Kelly of Arizona — to be her running mate.
If the campaign signals are being correctly interpreted, that would narrow the veepstakes down to Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

RE: Harris VP Candidate : The pick
Quote:The debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump last month proved a pivotal moment in the 2024 presidential election that ultimately led to Biden withdrawing from the race. But whether there will be another debate, between Trump and the new presumptive Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris, remains to be seen.
For now, the Harris campaign has said it is willing to take Biden’s place in a previously scheduled debate in September, but the Trump campaign has refused to confirm whether it will participate.

So he's a virtue signaler who likely lives in a gated community safely insulated from common men and especially thuggish black people.

Allegedly she will announce on Tuesday...
Quote:Suspense is building as Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate selection announcement nears -- with the process now resting in her own hands as of Friday, a person familiar tells ABC News.
The vetting, led by former Attorney General Eric Holder and his team at the Covington and Burling law firm, has concluded and the process has been turned over to Harris, the source said.
Harris is expected to announce her pick by Tuesday evening, when she and her running mate will appear together for a rally in Philadelphia, kicking off a multi-day blitz through battleground states.
They will make stops in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada.
News that the process has now entered this final stage was first reported by the New York Times.

After the comotion on Shapiro's name being leaked, Kamala is basically back to square 1 and has re-interviewed at least 6 vp possibilities this weekend. Reports of strife over Shapiro being picked have been confirmed by Fetterman in that his staff did reach out to Kamala to warn them to steer clear of Shapiro.
Its a complete cluster at this point.

Harris is good at accepting the consensus formed by other people. She is not good at creating a new consensus herself — making decisions that will anger elements of her own coalition. Decisions that she, personally, can and will be blamed for if they turn out wrong somewhere down the road.
Adding to the drama is the fact that *Harris* *knows* that most of these people trying to give her advice were 100% against the idea of her being the nominee until a month ago, or less. Some of them aren’t exactly excited about the idea, even now. So the elements of trust/motive/intent are very much in play here. And now she’s at the sh¡t-or-get-off-pot stage of this process, and we see it’s going haywire.
FWIW, in my opinion Tim Walz continues to be the best choice she could make. So of course, I’m hoping she doesn’t do that.
