I guess nobody else is left here to post.

EDIT--no offense, was just wandering where everybody was (no posts) when this was announced.

RE: Grand Canyon and Seattle to the WCC
WCC membership has always been the goal for GCU, even prior to D1 transition. Thankful for the WAC and it's membership (and fans) over the years as GCU built the brand and resume to finally get the invite we wanted from the start. Still going to need conference homes for programs like M/W Swim & Dive and M/W Track & Field, so maybe they stay as affiliate members. Either way, exciting days for the Lopes community.

RE: Grand Canyon and Seattle to the WCC
Shocked to hear this. I was dead wrong... I expected CBU to be the WCC's first choice for expansion due to its SoCal location and institutional fit.

Congratulations to GCU and especially Seattle for finally landing their hoped-for and logical homes in the WCC. I hope CBU also finds a landing spot.

I have to think the Utah schools will now be totally focused on getting into the Summit League. Hope that works out for them.

The Texas schools will have to look to the ASUN or Southland.

Hate to think this signals the end of the WAC after being a fan of the conference for four decades. Conference realignment giveth and taketh away, and these days there seems to be a lot more taketh away.

But Gonzaga will never let SU into the WCC!

(That may not be a direct quote of myself, but close enough)

So I feel like Rumack opening the door to the cockpit after Ted and Elaine landed and stopped the plane and calmly asserting “I just want to tell you both good luck, we’re all counting on you.”

One other thought... does this mean Gonzaga is planning a departure from the WCC?

Same here, I thought for sure the funding model was going to be a problem. Good luck to anyone not named Gonzaga in that conference.

SFA, ACU to the SLC (UTRGC already gone).

Utah schools to the Summit (FB--ASUN or MVFC affiliate).

Tarleton to ASUN

UTA to ASUN or SLC

Cal Bap.---- SOL

1) Will Lopes87 finally be happy?
2) Gleadley, glad the WAC could be your stopgap. Good luck in the WCC.

While CBU to the Big West is probably a stretch, I think it's more likely than CBU to the Summit.

That would be one of the few things I would be jealous of...

Just wear your purple and show up too. Steak on me lol.

So off topic but with CBU as the backup plan to the Zags leaving. They are kind of screwed atm. I'd try and get the UT schools to partner up to going the Summit. Feel for CBU.

RE: Grand Canyon and Seattle to the WCC
As long as the WAC has an auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament, it has life.

With 8 teams you've got a Western group of 4 (CBU, UT, SUU, UVU) and a Texas group of 4 (ACU, TSU, UTA, SFA).

The loss of GCU hurts.
The loss of SU maybe helps in terms of travel.
Maybe Oral Roberts rethinks travelling to North Dakota in the winter?
Maybe Little Rock rethinks membership in a football league & trips to eastern Kentucky?

The WAC has proven itself resilient in the past.
Let's not write its obituary prematurely.

Maybe this group if they plan to stick together is find a league commissioner that is football focused? I would think BT isn't a popular guy in TX or UT currently.
