A few Da'Ville fans stated that Satt is loyal to a fault in Brown. That said, Kerry Coombs is one coach that needs moved on. I don't know that I've seen worse-coached units in ST and DB in a Bearcats uniform. If Satt shows some balls then that is a plus in my book. If he stays loyal to a fault...

The defense was abysmal down the stretch. The thing i keep going back to with Brown is the defense at Louisville improved every year. Last year they were top 20 sp+ adjusted defense. He seems well regarded nationally as well.

Yes, I expected much more going into the season from our defense. The back seven were mostly Fickell recruits and could not make plays when needed.

Brown spent the first half of the season thinking you could blitz every down in man coverage.

Blitzing with no pressure and nobody on the back end of the D was a bold move, Cotton.

Being a non-expert, it felt to me like the defense was getting the job done early in games the first half of the season. It seemed like as the game went on, they either tired out from being on the field so long, or got disgusted with the offense and gave up.

Then it felt like they just skipped the early part of the games and gave up before the start of the final games. Saved time and effort.

His tweet is not unlike nearly any other tweets I see when players enter the portal. Even if it is, who cares what his spiritual beliefs and religious practices are? All I am concerned about is whether he can ply QB and win games.

This one makes sense. I'm sure he wants to start. Kiner earned the starting job.

To be honest, this doesn't completely surprise me. Chad made an excellent point on his latest podcast that if you are a holdover from the previous staff, and you didn't see a whole lot of playing time this year, you are probably not part of the future plans and you'd see those guys enter the portal. He would clearly be the #2 guy at best next year. He obviously wants to be #1.

Yep, Kiner had a hell of a season considering defenses could key on him, and we have a stable of RBs still with both of the Montgomery's leaving. Manny Covey could fill that role as the COP/Speedster back to pair with Kiner and to a lesser extent Byrd as the power guys.

RE: Bearcat Football 2024 Off-season
My guesses at who else will be entering the portal of the remaining scholarship players and not including the couple who have already entered (Metayer, M. Montgomery, and George Udo):
QB: Brady Lichtenburg
WR: Chris Scott
OL: Landon Fickell, Mao Glynn, and Luke Dalton
LB: Daved Jones and maybe Jah-Mal Williams
DL: Domonique Perry, Justin Wodtly, and maybe Rob Jackson
DB: Sammy Anderson, Todd Bumphis, and maybe Kalen Carroll
S: Isaiah Cox and Oliver Bridges

I suspect Pace will be gone. He never seemed bought in. I don't think there was a more frustrating player on the team this year. He is so talented, but constantly put the defense in a bad place by not maintaining discipline. The staff sat him one game. I just don't see him returning.

Does anyone have any ideas or information about Drogosh? Does he have a future at UC?

Yeah... I could see most of these on the list. I'd kind of hope that maybe the OL group could be salvaged, though.

I think Mark is also likely correct... I think DeShawn Pace is likely going to be one of the next names we hear for the reasons Mark said. To be honest...and I say this with a lot of respect for his brother's excellent career here...I wish him well, but man...he's a discipline problem to be sure.

I think Brian Threats will also be on someone else's sidelines next season.

RE: Bearcat Football 2024 Off-season
On the issue of coaches...

I am continually disappointed that changes were not made during the season and have not been announced today. I think most of us agree that, recruiting aside, Kerry Coombs was not a good Special Teams coordinator and needs to, at the least, have his job duties restructured. If he's an asset to recruiting, then fine...keep him on staff for that purpose, but we NEED to replace him at Special Teams.

Also, I think many of us agree that the current model of the Head Coach as Offensive Coordinator also is in desperate need of examination. At the very least, a more...assertive...Offensive Coordinator who can be in the box and at least in communication regarding play-calling would be an asset to Coach Satterfield. Not to mention, it would help develop the Coaching staff and...if Satterfield is successful...help develop that "Coaching Tree." If our AD is resourceful...and I'm hopeful he is...he'll be having that type of conversation with Satterfield, not as a slam against Satterfield, but to help put both Satterfield AND the program in a better position to succeed.

I took this as Wodtly being gone

I thought his eligibility was up...if not, yeah, add him to the list because he is going to be heading out on his way too.

Sure...he is just a work in progress.

Outside of the actual coaching and scouting staff, I have probably seen that kid play more than just about any other UC related person. He has good arm talent, very good running the ball, but the offense they play at De La Salle is VERY basic in the passing game. He spent 3 years throwing to open receivers in one read sets, and now he is going to be throwing receivers open in route combinations that require you to read coverages...it'll take him a year or two to get up to speed, but he has the physical traits and abilities that make his potential very high as a QB. I think you have to get a guy with starting experience and quality play under his belt in order to have a chance next year though. If Drogosh beats him, then so be it, but I don't think he'll be ready next year without a HUGE and extremely difficult rapid development in the mental aspects of the QB position.
