RE: Facilities Discussion
Saw new graphics up on the west side exterior of the stadium. Large posters of Ximenes and Heinike. They looked real nice and was a cool surprise. Still wish they’d get the large logo banner up there that was shown in the rendering. On another note, the new large TV just installed is not near Hampton Blvd and faces 49th street right by the ticket windows. It might help with messages to students here and there but it’s definitely not going to double as a digital billboard of significance. But as others have said, If that’s what the dude wanted his money spent on, that’s his business.

Cool behind the scenes view of AV support during a game day at Ballard.

I have a new appreciation for what it takes to keep everything going. Especially during a rain game. BTW, did anyone notice the stadium lights on Saturday? Not sure why for a noon game.

Were they actually on? I looked up once and caught a reflection in my eye. It was unpleasant enough that I actively avoided looking towards them the rest of the game. I figured it was just the sun reflecting off the LEDs.

Nice! That's awesome.

But I twitched at the cable management at about 4 minutes. My infrastructure guy would have heads rolling. It's always the AV guys. =]

edit: haha that video is ptsd for anyone in the tech field. License limit?! love it.

From my vantage point, they appeared to be on, and in fact, I commented to someone about it.

I don't klnow anything official but I feel like this is the norm for all outdoor sports, maybe it's in case of sudden inclement weather where they need to be on at all times? Or maybe they need to be on for the entire system can run? idk

Just googled it and it's apparently done for the TV. The source said it reduces shadows on the field for a better production. They call it studio lighting.

We have to request it for use from the National Guard and it is transported to campus the week of the game. Would guess they didn’t bring it for the Louisiana game because of weather and it was likely being used for training. Doubt we see it this weekend due to the weather but we will ask for more information on it.

Thanks. Now I understand. Miss seeing everyone around me jump when they know that it is going to happen.

I'm loving the new elevators on west side. Surprised no one has commented.

Hadn't noticed, although I wasn't looking for them. Where are they exactly?

Right beside the original ones. Again ODU blows a chance to blow their own horn. Those elevators could be worth a few more people in actual attendance. My wife and I are old and this was an important issue for us.

I get some of the issues on recent ODU PR misses, but this one? What release would you like from ODU? A Minium story on the webpage blasting that "ODU fixes elevators?"
