The flecked epoxy will hide the dirt and mold better, but it will eventually need cleaning, and a full-on pressure washing will likely find some flaw in the application and blast it loose from the concrete.
Also, the epoxy is slippery when wet (or slipperier than non-polished concrete).
We'll get a test of the durability when they clean the west men's room floors of construction residue.
They were epoxied last year, and they were still very dirty as of yesterday.
I'm surprised that they aren't working around-the-clock on the restrooms at this point, but they can't do anything about cure times for the adhesive holding on the tiles.
There was a pressure washing crew just starting when I left last night at 9:45 (Wednesday).
Makes sense to work when it's cooler.
There are acres to go.
Melissa Kean showed up just as I was helping Neal Farmer take his buckets to his car (Houston Touchdown Club's Bayou Bucket Luncheon).
Got to take her on a tour of the R-Room (she is impressed), and then a tour of the press box (not impressed).
She'd been in the press box before, but likely not on a non-game day.
If the restro9ms aren’t air conditioned that epoxy will be totally slick with condensation, and other liquids, and nasty. Hope at least they can put some HVAC units on those restrooms.

I believe the west side restrooms have had A/C since the last update a few years ago. Of course, the cleanliness of the facilities is also highly dependent on crowd size.

Sounds like the epoxy may be the latest iteration in the Rice philosophy of maintaining athletic facilities--If you must do something, go cheap and superficial.

The renovations on the west side should be complete on Saturday.
The old day game / night game line comes to mind.
I talked to the pressure washing crew last night, and they said that they can and do clean the epoxy-coated surfaces - it just requires holding the spray nozzle a little further away to avoid blasting the epoxy loose.
They've already finished cleaning the east side concourse.
Holding off on the west side concourse until the restroom renovation crew stops tracking dirt around.
Another part of the day game / night game line...

Game day...
SE party deck - there is some shade, early in the day
SE handicap seating (or not)
West side - final prep - hanging the Hall of Fame banners
None shall pass - the upper west is closed
NW inflatable kids zone (show me an inflatable kid)...
NW party decks will have complete shade for a game late in the day
West side - ready to go

Just left the R Room. Looks nice but still not complete. I do like the interactive TVs that have the history of Rice athletics.

That’s the most crowded and loudest I’ve seen/heard the stadium club in years. Just wish they would pipe in the PA, refs calls, & National Anthem.

I'm sure this has been touched on already (and might not be feasible), but has there been any discussion about putting tarp over the upper decks, like what the Seattle Sounders do at CenturyLink? Can help make a stadium feel and look a bit less empty.

Maybe all the pressure washing caused the press box bathroom to have zero water pressure? We are under mandatory water restrictions by the way. So stop wasting all our precious water!

Not really about HRS, but I really like bringing the Texas map outline into the OE "R" logo.

You're actually giving credit to the Rice Athletic department?
