South Florida is #1 in Piscataquis County, Maine.

Hamilton County is in the middle of the Adirondack Mountains. The county has 5000 people.

There was a county in Maine that listed NCSt.

That’s some interesting information. Thanks for sharing. One thing that’s a little misleading, for example, not all counties are close to the same size.

For instance DePaul is listed as the most popular team in only one county. Cook County is the second largest county in the country. A nice county to be the most popular team in.

I can’t get the map to zoom enough to look at Maine and the search isn’t working for me. I spend part of the year in Maine and part in North Carolina so that is fascinating to me. Most people we know in Maine are fans of UMaine. UConn also has a pretty good following. I’ve never heard the words “North Carolina State” uttered by any Mainer. But Aroostook County is so sparsely populated and so remote that if one person bought tickets to a NC State game that might constitute the “most popular”. This is only measuring people who bought secondary tickets on VividSeats. For a lot of counties, one person making a group purchase to a game faraway was enough to place a school first.

There are also a lot of counties where the local team dominates attendance, but all those tickets are bought through the school and not on VividSeats. So for a school like Murray St who averages 5k+ attendance, Kentucky ends up winning by virtue of Murray St tickets rarely being on VividSeats (why buy through a secondary site with fees when they can buy $15-20 tix through the school).

The data is limited to ticket sales processed by VividSeats. That’s obviously a flawed source. The vast majority of Hawaii men’s basketball tickets are purchased on Hawaii’s own eTicketHawaii website.

If complete data were available there would be no way Boise State would end up as the most popular college basketball team in Hawaii County..

I'm surprised UMAINE basketball got any counties.

This sure seems like pretty useless "data" (and I use the term loosely) to me.

This is only accurate if ALL tickets are bought through Vivid Seats. In know that Marshall doesn't use Vivid seats for online ticket purchases at Herdzone.com

Right. It only represents the small segment of people who buy through VividSeats.

It's a fun map to look at, but it only represents probably 2-5% of all tickets sold.

As a PSU football and UNC basketball fan, I love that Michigan and Duke aren't even on there.

UC is "most popular" in upwards of 10 counties (at quick count). Very respectable.

I have a hunch in most Iowa counties that Caitlin Clark and the Iowa women's basketball team is more popular than any men's team.

Wouldn't vivid seats data only apply to re-sale rather than initial sale?
