Pryor was a great fighter. Just couldn’t shake the monkey. I once saw him at a BW’s near UC’s campus in the early 1990s and it was just sad.

I used to be a huge boxing fan (PPV chased me away), but that Pryor vs Aguello first fight is in my top 3 all-time!

The first fight was controversial. Pryor was looking a bit wobbly as the 13th round ended. He looked like a new man in the 14th and knocked Arguello out. There has long been speculation that Pryor’s trainers mixed something in his water bottle. HBO’s microphones picked up someone saying go get the water bottle, the one that was mixed.

Nonetheless, this was a tremendous fight. Here is the link.
