WBB host the Chips 1:00 Saturday
The Huskies 14-12 6-9 (and tied for 5th-6th-7th and 8th) host Central Michigan 6-20 4-11 at 1:00 broadcast on ESPN3 and 1330 AM on senior day. There will be a ceremony after the game to honor Janae Poisson-Emma Carter-A’jah Davis and Emily Meinert. With 3 conference games remaining this should be one we get in the W column. Go Huskies!

In the exciting world of ticket errors, today’s tickets state FEBUARY 25 at 6 pm. The game is at 1 pm. I wonder if I show up at 6 pm, can I request a refund?

Ok thanks hopefully nothing serious with Koker. I did hear from a fairly reliable source that Davis is gonna try playing overseas next year and right now Koker plans on returning to play her Covid year.

This game really wore me out. I was probably as drained as the players after the second OT. We blew a 10+ point lead, but the win is what counts. Lots of nervous excitement, that’s for sure!

Women’s basketball is my favorite sport at NIU. I love watching the women hustle and leave everything on the court. Plus, the players and Coach Carlsen interact so well with the fans. After the games, the players go into the stands to hug their parents and high five the fans. It’s a beautiful thing.

This season Athletics has hired an emcee (Miles) to stir up the crowd and get them to cheer. It works quite well, and he does a really nice job. It’s a great atmosphere at these games.

I heard there was someone sitting in your seat at 6PM waiting for the game to start.

Its a shame that there are mot more families attending the WBB games, kids are thrilled when players interact with the fans like the WBB team does.

No, I didn’t go. I’ll bet it wasn’t well attended because not a lot of people attend the WBB games, and certainly not a lot between 12:00 and 1:00. It was a good thing they did, however.

This is true, but he offered me a refund.

Speaking of people sitting in other people’s seats, the ushers are really checking people who sit in the reserved section, and I really applaud them for that. People just sit wherever they feel like, ignoring the reserved seats sign. It’s not like there aren’t great seats all over the Convo that are GA. I always make sure to thank the usher.

Yes, and after each game the players sit on the concourse and sign autographs and give out team posters. I applaud this team and Coach Carlsen for interacting with the fans. Yesterday, Coach Carlsen high-fived fans sitting at the court.

Because I love WBB, I donate to them a couple times a year. I get personal notes, cards, photos, etc. from Coach Carlsen and team members all year. This team knows how to deal with its fans and should serve as a model for Athletics administration.

RE: WBB host the Chips 1:00 Saturday
I have enjoyed and supported WBB since a weekend long, long ago when I had nothing to do, saw a game on the schedule, drove over to Evans Fieldhouse and stumbled onto a game vs Illinois. Jane Albright's NIU team won, and UofI never played NIU WBB again that I know of (typical). But I got hooked, especially on the fact that WBB plays below the basket, so strategy and movement are critical. It's fun to watch that way.

I criticize only for the long-term, roughly-.500 performance over a stretch of years, but certainly not the enthusiasm and fan appreciation it generates, nor the determination of the student-athletes. The off-court connection with fans is kind of unique, and endearing because it has a kind of "personality."

Whatever happens this year and next (Carlsen's last under current contract), I hope that never gets lost in the shuffle. It's a little early, but as to next year, NIU will have a fresh look to its roster with a lot of talent leaving.

While on that subject, does anyone know what happened to jr. Brooke Stonebraker? At 6-3 the tallest player on the roster, and I'm not aware of any injuries. There's also a 6-0 frosh, Brooke Blumenfeld, we haven't heard or seen for a while. Just askin' after a look down the roster to see who (hopefully) is coming back.

pvk--just my guess on Stonebraker, few things....

1. she plays behind A'jah Davis---so she isn't going to get much court time
2. when a'jah does come out emily meinhart has been getting the minute or so before media time outs. Emily is much more athletic than Brooke and more fierce
3. Probably most importantly, Brooke does get "some" minutes---but only when A'jah is in deep foul trouble or the game is handedly decided I'm not at a talent scout, but I think she still appears very raw and maybe a little "game" uncoordinated as an athlete.

Most of all, in looking at the box scores (Koker's injury thrown out) it appears that Lisa has really shortened the bench and is riding the best players a lot more in the past few weeks.

Tara Stauffacher has pretty much disappeared from playing time. Grace Hunter has only been used sparingly.

Sid McCrea's time has increased immensely the past few weeks.

I think the usage is a survival mode thing and the best contributors and getting the minutes.

RE: WBB host the Chips 1:00 Saturday
This was my last basketball game of the year, as I only attend weekend games due to the distance from where I live. I'm depressed that going to the games has ended for me this year and am already really looking forward to when it starts up again in November. I love going to the games, and I love the Convo. Well, except for the uncomfortable seats, that is. It's difficult to sit in those seats, and for someone with a bad back (like my wife), it's very difficult. We manage to make it through the games, but sitting through a double header is torture. I really appreciate the Saturdays when there is just one game.

Now, if they would only put a roof over Huskie Stadium, my life would be perfect. I do not like attending sporting events outdoors except in perfect weather - and we very rarely have perfect weather. I can't take sitting in very hot or cold temperatures and rain. So.....if any of you multi-millionaires out there would like to pop for a roof over Huskie Stadium, I'll do what I can to see that the roof gets named for you!

MP… I think your right on in all your comments regarding the individual players mentioned. As far as Blumenfeld she must be getting redshirted as she practices but does not even dress for games. I just have to wonder why they brought in the 2 Jr College players who also never play? Usually if you bring in a juco transfer they are coming in as an upperclassman and are expected to contribute right away. Maybe they are just experienced depth?
