Advantage Charleston.
Not that that advantage would matter.

In a city the size of Greensboro with free tickets, it's not that hard to fill the gym.

RE: CAA Watch
A&T is a pretty large school too with a long history and broad alumni base
I was surprised too with free tickets and a top 25 team coming they didn't do better

Our marketing for athletics events is a F-. We don’t get a lot of alums or locals to attend our basketball games, the games are usually 90% students.
They started marketing the game on Monday afternoon ??♂️

That's too bad. A&T has a chance to create a great home court advantage in the CAA and really become the premier college for fans in the Greensboro area. I'm afraid winning will have to come before the local crowds return. We don't have as bad a problem, but winning definitely helps draw a crowd.

RE: CAA Watch
Drexel @ Towson is definitely the game of the night tomorrow. Will be on CBSSN. Towson could very easily start 0-2

Lack of good ball handlers just kills them.

Yeah, I was looking at UNCW attendance figures and was impressed…good numbers for school being out.
A&T is in an interesting market as it pertains to local support. We have 4 Div1 college basketball programs within 30 minutes of us with the closest being 2 miles away…that definitely effects local support.
We can still do better with our local marketing and outreach!!

I hope you are right. To me, Towson is about the worst match up for us in conference. We are also too u and down and inconsistent to have a lot of faith. Only glimmer I have is we were brutal from 3 against W&M and still won. Maybe that means we get hot and can outscore them. Amari Williams vs Charles Thompson has the makes of a fun match up between the likely top 2 bigs in the conference

Parking shouldn’t be a problem with the game being at 2, there is plenty of parking around Corbett. Your walk shouldn’t be more than 5 min.
As far as purchasing a ticket I have no idea, I haven’t been to a game in 10+ years.

RE: CAA Watch
Charleston would be a historic snub in terms of wins, but rankings of all 363 teams agree that they do not deserve an at-large bid, and their rankings will be even worse if they do not win the CAA Tournament. I do not give them any chance at an at-large bid. I would not be surprised if this is the CAA's worst season ever. The article made a big mistake when it said that for Olympic sports, the north end of the CAA is Philadelphia and Delaware. The CAA has four teams north of Philadelphia. Two of the four teams mentioned as possibly going to the SoCon are Hampton and North Carolina A&T, which already had two recent moves from the MEAC to the Big South to the CAA. North Carolina A&T spent one season in the Big South, and Hampton spent four seasons in the Big South. Another team mentioned is Campbell, and if they wanted to get in the SoCon, would they be joining the CAA?
I liked when the CAA had ten teams and a balanced schedule. I would not mind North Carolina A&T, Hampton, or Campbell leaving. I want the CAA to stay for their Men's Basketball quality and attendance. In the last ten seasons there were plenty of times when the CAA was better than the SoCon in Football, Men's Basketball, and Women's Basketball.
When the northern teams joined, you were the only team south of Virginia. In 2023-2024, the CAA will have five teams south of Virginia. When the northern teams joined, Hofstra was the only team north of Philadelphia. In 2023-2024, the CAA will have four teams north of Philadelphia.

They wish. Nobody is going to the SoCon from the CAA. Nobody. The writer has no idea what is in the works in the CAA. The trips up north from the southern schools are going to be almost non existent once Campbell and A&T are fully on board. Plus, CAA football far exceeds SoCon football and it will only get better with Campbell and A&T. But most of all, CofC covets students from up north and South Carolina is getting ready to offer in state tuition to students from North Carolina and Georgia. Yeah, the CAA took a hit with the expansion teams in basketball this year, but there are still many other sports that got a boost.
The SoCon has reached its' peak and there is little room for growth, while the CAA is expanding and has plenty of room for growth along with larger and more recognized schools up and down the east coast. Wishful thinking by the writer, but it's not happening.

RE: CAA Watch
The author must not know Charleston's history in the SoCon. They arrived for the '98-'99 season and went undefeated in conference play. A writer in the Charleston paper referred to them as "the saviors of the Southern Conference". He must have missed UT-Chattanooga's Sweet Sixteen run in the '97 Tournament.
Charleston lost its first round game in the NCAA Tournament that year and never returned to the NCAA Tournament during their 20+ year tenure in the SoCon.
When Charleston left the SoCon after the '12-'13 season, they made it clear they were glad to get out and created hurt feelings with the remaining schools and conference staff.
The Southern has 10 members, which allows every team to play the other teams twice in men's basketball. It has 9 members in football, which allows every team to play the other teams every year and each school has 4 home conference games and 4 road games.
The only non-football team in the SoCon is UNCG. If they leave, there are other non-football schools such High Point and Winthrop to fill its slot.
If a football school leaves, Campbell would probably leave the CAA for the Southern. If Campbell won't move, Gardner Webb would.
