Thought I would share a little nugget of info.....hearing some chatter that CUSA, the WAC and ASUN have been in talks about possibly coming together in a merger to create the first college sports "super-conference".

I cant imagine it's likely to happen but doing so might assure that CUSA has more long-term security. If done correctly, it could actually cut back on some travel in the league.

Will be interesting to see what develops between now and early summer.

I am sure the WAC and ASUN have been pleading for C-USA to make this a reality. Hopefully Judy has given them all the time of day that the AAC gave her when she pitched a similar plan.

I’ve also heard chatter Conference USA is looking at a similar type of merger with the SEC

Thats odd Ive been hearing chatter the SBC, Southland, OVC and Big South have been discussing a merger to get all to the FBS. Trying to improve the records of some existing schools. Should eliminate any need to ever ride a plane. Also rumbling may create intra-conference bowls to ensure at least a 500 bowl record.

Now if the PAC raids the MWC in a major way, then I could see C-USA and whatever remains of the MWC merging. C-USA already has NMSU and UTEP in the Mountain time zone. That would probably be a better option for both conferences. I can't see the MWC wanting to call up multiple FCS programs, and C-USA could grow back to 12 or 14 and move back to divisions.

This makes sense. CUSA and the MWC are going to remain a step above the ASUNWAC. I could definitely see the two merging if the MWC is reduced to six.
