tied at 53 at end of OT #2...

Arkansas appeared to have it won as they stuffed the Kansas QB run on the 2-pt conversion, but targeting was called... KU converts to play on... 03-drunk

For people complaining about too many bowl games...this is why. We only get so much football every year, and games like this are amazing. It doesn't matter the records, it's just fun to watch.

yow - bad way for KU to lose... QB had a 50-50 shot to run it in...

Hogs survive... 55-53. 3 OTs

There was a hell of a crowd on hand as well. Didnt hurt that one team was Arkansas and didnt have to travel far. But to be fair, B12 teams have always traveled well to the Liberty Bowl, too.

NOW in OT...

Amazing that CFB has turned into the NBA and that the first 75% of the game doesn't matter anymore.

I assume it was a BS call like 99% of them?

52,847 attending, best since 2017. For 2 6-6 teams!

Yep. Arkansas was next door, and Kansas hadn't been to a bowl game in forever.

Wild 4th quarter and overtime. That game was drunk. I was disappointed that the Jayhawks didn't win.

Looks like as of 2:48 this afternoon, the water issues at the stadium had been resolved. The city of Memphis has been under a water boil advisory. There was a long row of port-a-potties outside the stadium, just in case.

I am a KU fan, but the QB was already being tackled when a second Razorback came up; he lowered his head, but hit him in the helmet with his shoulder; I was unclear if targeting had to be helmet-to-helmet. I knew you couldn't hit anyone in the head.

It was a great game until we took the ball out of Jalon Daniels' hand on the 3rd OT 2-point try. Bean tends to get antsy in that type of situation; the fact that he did not see a wide-open receiver and appeared to deliberately overthrow the receiver who was double covered has already led to some fans wondering whether he forgot he only had this one chance and thought KU would have another down. Ball appeared to hit a lady in the first row.

Lot of records broken tonight.

How many bowls have we had already? I've seen two that were solid. This was one of them. The vast majority have been one sided with one opponent committed and another just punching the clock. I think this game tonight should be an annual between those two. It was, or at least looked to be, the best turnout for one of these so far. Meanwhile Kiffin is eschewing punting and trashing the other one that's on tonight.

I get that fans like to have something to watch, but objectively, most of these games have been pale imitations of what bowl games once were. I've found it to be sad. But, thank you Arkansas and Kansas for an entertaining evening! Kudos to both!

Majority of the games I’ve seen have been great. I think close to 50% of the games have been decided by 1 score or less. Lot of quality competitive games. All this doom and gloom stuff is way overblown. But I guess some people just like to be negative.

Nope. Decades of watching them and the quality just isn't there. Close scores do not necessarily a good game make. Sharp play, solid coaching, good officiating, and hard play make a good game. The game tonight was streaky in a good way with a lot of fight on both sides. Doom and Gloom? Negative? I just call them like I see them in spite of gaslighting by the "We settle for less crowd!"

I'd dearly love to see a game where the blocking and tackling techniques were indicative of being schooled in fundamentals. That started dying out in the 90's and has only gotten worse. Go back and watch Dave Rimington and the Nebraska O line circa the 1980's and then watch what passes for blocking today. Fundamentals are practically absent in most high school ball and now in most college ball. If you look at the final four schools which have frequently played in the CFP you'll find that the major distinction is not a lot of 5 stars (though that can help) but rather the soundness in technique, reads, and execution which is lacking in the rest. We have a handful of staffs who know what and how to teach. The rest relies on athleticism.

Been watching the games for decades too and I just don’t see it the same. Not sure how me expressing a different view qualifies as gaslighting. Like I say the majority of games I’ve watched have been enjoyable games. Couple clunkers in there but that’s to be expected. Maybe my standards just aren’t the same as yours.
