I understand where the cynicism comes from, but I don't think that's a factor in this case at all.

They updated their projections on pro volley talk - we now get Creighton as the 5 seed in our regional (which I don't believe will happen because we've already hosted them this year). Houston makes more sense to me because we played them on a neutral court.

Personally, I think if Houston beats UCF, they come here as the 2 seed in our region. If not, then we'll see a different two seed and Houston will get sent to Baylor's region.

Agree with this. I also think that they seed us #16 even if we deserve higher simply to pair us with Texas in the Sweet 16 round.

How much would it suck for Houston to have only two losses on the year and have to go through those same two teams to advance? On the other hand payback is heck so if that happens we better have our A game. I know UH thinks they had their C game when they opened against us.

I'm sure the UH team would be overjoyed with that opportunity, including staying home (albeit across town) for the first two rounds.

UH takes first set from UCF 25-20. UCF shooting themselves in the foot with 9 attack errors, mostly unforced.

UCF takes the second set by the same 25-20 score.

Looking through UCF and UH's volleyball scores, I kind of get the feeling the AAC might be a step back in volleyball next year for the Owls (once you take UCF and UH out of the equation). That may be the only sport you can say that?

Both conferences stink outside of the two powers. Unfortunately for us, both UH and UCF will be moving up to the Big12 as we enter the AAC. Genny is going to have to schedule a Stanford-like OOC schedule going forward. In addition to playing UT, Baylor and UH, we're going to have to schedule several out-of-state powers...and that would include Stanford while they're in Texas for their annual early season match in Austin. I thought this year's scheduling was solid. It was simply unfortunate that both Texas Tech and Kansas State faltered during Big12 play.

UCF takes the pivotal 3rd set 25-21 and leads 2-1. UCF with 9 attack errors that first set, but only 6 since in the last two sets combined.

UCF is even more unbalanced on offense than WKU, who at least have a two-pronged attack with Matthews and Briggs. UCF's Melville already has 58 attacks and we're not halfway through the 4th set (just under half of UCF's total attacks for the match). She has 22 kills, but 11 attack errors (.186).

UH takes the 4th set and the teams are heading to the 5th. With that set win UH clinched the auto bid.

You could say next year’s AAC baseball will be a step down from last year’s (and possibly this year’s) CUSA baseball.

WBB may be a push.

How does that work? Saw the same thing on Twitter and it confuses me.

RE: Volleyball scores this week
UH won the 1st meeting 3 sets to 1. UCF won today 3-2. 1st tie-breaker is sets won, so UH has 5 and UCF 4. UH are the champs. But they won't host a regional. I guess UCF could still host and only has that 1 loss on the year. But it would be kind of controversial if they get to host over Rice (and sending Rice to Baylor and Houston to Texas would be a really stupid move by the NCAA IMO).

RE: Volleyball scores this week
So from the figstats updated RPI, you kind of get the sense that most of the regionals are set.

http://ncaastats.figstats.net/volleyball...vXiP8Rhf04

Texas, Louisville, Pitt, Stanford, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Nebraska, San Diego are top 8 right now in that RPI list. Kentucky, Florida, Oregon and Minnesota are probably safe. Creighton has to beat Xavier tonight, and if so, they play Marquette in the Big East finals tomorrow - and that winner will likely be the 13th host. Baylor should be a host too. That's 14.

I'd like to think Rice is #15, and then the last host comes down to UCF or Penn State (who hosts Purdue tonight).

But this is the NCAA we're talking about, so nothing ever goes completely to form.

No way. ECU is a perennial borderline Top 25 team, and Tulane is once again a Top 35 caliber club. And FAU, Charlotte, UAB and UTSA are strongest current CUSA baseball programs (save for LaTech) and they're all coming with us into the AAC.

UCF won in 5 sets 15-12. Their primary offensive weapon has an almost unimaginable 80 attacks (29 kills, a whopping 15 errors, .179). As I've said before, had UH won and gotten the host seed, it would have been beyond controversial; it would have been a travesty. Again, we won the head-to-head in a neutral site sweep, we have the higher RPI AND the superior resume vs. Top 25/50. There was no way UH was going to be seeded ahead of us. However, it's a moot point now. I still think the NCAA does the logical and seed us #16, UH #17 and pair us with #1 overall seed UT.
