Texas, Louisville, Pitt, Stanford, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Nebraska, San Diego are top 8 right now in that RPI list. Kentucky, Florida, Oregon and Minnesota are probably safe. Creighton has to beat Xavier tonight, and if so, they play Marquette in the Big East finals tomorrow - and that winner will likely be the 13th host. Baylor should be a host too. That's 14.

I'd like to think Rice is #15, and then the last host comes down to UCF or Penn State (who hosts Purdue tonight).

But this is the NCAA we're talking about, so nothing ever goes completely to form.

No way UCF gets to host as their RPI and overall Top 25/50 resume are simply not good enough. Had UH won, they would have deserved it, but wouldn't have gotten it because there was never going to be two Houston regionals. I think Penn State gets it if they sweep this weekend....and as I've said, I think we get seeded #16 if only to pair us with UT in the Sweet 16.

I hope, but again, this is the NCAA we're talking about. OTOH, a poster on the UH site just posted 'What a great season. Sunday we find out who we host next weekend.'

I do think UH gets a higher seed than UCF based on RPI and overall resume, but not even an NCAA Selection Committee would seed them ahead of us. Name one criteria in which UH ranks ahead of us?

RE: Volleyball scores this week
Devastating loss for Nebraska as they head into their showdown match vs. Wisconsin tonight-- their senior defensive specialist and team captain injured her knee in a practice this week and is out for the remainder of the season. She was only a 3-rotation player (ala Darby Harris for us this year), but a pivotal part of their backline defense, an elite server and team leader.

RE: Volleyball scores this week
Penn State did win in 5, so one would think they'll be a host? I think they're now 5-5 vs. the top 25 and that's a pretty impressive record.

Maybe UCF would be sent to Rice as a 2 seed? They pretty much have to travel if they don't host (unless they are at Florida, which seems a bit unlikely). I still think Houston could go to Baylor.

It would also be nice if we could get credit for our sweep of San Diego in last year's NCAA tournament, but I know that's not how things work. But they may end up being one of the top 4 seeds this year.

Why do you appear to be putting UCF ahead UH? Seriously, UH will almost definitely be seeded higher than UCF. The only Top 25 team UCF played all year was UH, with whom they split...and they've only played a couple other matches against Top 50 programs. They lack the resume to host. If Creighton beats Marquette I can see both of them hosting. However, if Marquette wins again Creighton will not be hosting. Marquette has the better resume.

No way. ECU is a perennial borderline Top 25 team, and Tulane is once again a Top 35 caliber club. And FAU, Charlotte, UAB and UTSA are strongest current CUSA baseball programs (save for LaTech) and they're all coming with us into the AAC.

You make a good case but you apparently forgot USM was in our league last year and DBU will be this year.

Let’s call it a push trading LaTech and USM/DBU for ECU and Tulane.
Definitely excited about playing in the AAC and getting ECU/Tulane back on the conference schedule.

RE: Volleyball scores this week
UCF is 27-1 with wins over Lipscomb (65, 4th best team in ASun), Miami (33) and Kansas (30). They've been to the NCAA tournament numerous times in the past few years (advancing to the 2nd round last year after beating Pepperdine in the 1st round at the UCLA regional).

UH hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since 2000. But they're 28-3 with their best wins being LSU (46), High Point (53) and Kennesaw State (55, 6th best team in ASun).

I doubt seriously the NCAA committee is going to seed Houston ahead of UCF. Their RPIs are identical, but UCF has the recent NCAA tournament history that Houston does not.

UH has 3 losses only because they've played 2 more Top 25 teams than UCF played. UCF's schedule was a joke. They're not getting a host seed. Georgia Tech or the loser of Creighton/Marquette should get the seed ahead of UCF. Heck, Purdue deserves the seed ahead of UCF, and Purdue is lucky to still be in the Top 25. Is UCF better than Towson?

Wisconsin beat Nebraska in Lincoln and not only clinches the Big10 crown, but pretty much locks up the #4 overall seed (behind only UT, Louisville and Stanford). Ohio State lost it's 3rd consecutive match (at least this time to a ranked team in Minnesota) and will likely drop out of the Top 10. San Diego will likely be the #5 overall seed.

Hard to believe the #1 P5 conference in volleyball year-in, year-out is not represented on the Committee.

LSU gets swept by Georgia, probably going to drop out of the top 50 in RPI.

Creighton and Marquette are playing in the Big East finale (at Creighton). Marquette easily won the 1st set, 25-16. You'd have to believe that a Marquette win gets them a host spot (and knocks Creighton out of the running).

We want Creighton to win, right?
