The other 6 teams in this tournament could all make the sweet 16. It was a LOADED field. We weren't at that level. Not close.

Take the win and try to get better

I was looking at that Battle for Atlantis field. Wish we would have got in that one instead. Not quite as stacked.

Wes or Cunningham are flat out ******* idiots for signing us up for this one. Dummies.

I'm pretty sure that you apply for a two-year window, and those applications are two years in advance of the window, so this likely would've been at least applied for after Brannen's first year when we "won" the AAC.

I’m pretty sure they signed up for it 3 or 4 years ago.

Cronin was the coach when this was in the works.

Davenport had 6 assists and 6 rebounds tonight. He's not shooting but he does other things

He can't defend his position, and his rebounding numbers are high because this team sucks at rebounding. All he can do is shoot...I love his effort, but he plays dumb basketball and that just drives me crazy.

He's a Bearcat though so I'll root for him the entire time he is here, and wherever he goes.

RE: Keg of Nails game thread “ basketball version”
Wasn't it the 100th game in the Louisville rivalry last night? I'll take a win over the Cardinals, any day, any way, and UC finished strong to put an exclamation point on a double digit final score. At least the Louisville fans got to enjoy those great beaches in Maui.

For those frustrated with Davenport, I have to agree. And it's hard because he has such energy and passion for being a Bearcat and wanting to win. But watching his shot selection and defensive lapses is enough to make one's head explode and I'm amazed Wes has shown such patience. Skillings shows flashes of brilliance much like Tari Eason did as a freshman. Here's hoping we hold on to Skillings and he begins to earn more minutes during the coming homestand.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. What started as a very tough week with AZ and OSU could end on a high note with this roundball victory over Louisville...and a football CCG bid with a win over Tulane (A loss could only be celebrated as our last ever game in the American). Go 'Cats!

The big change Wes made was to stop playing backups, 4 of our 5 starters play 29+ minutes. Only 3 backups played more than 4 minutes and only Ody was above 13 minutes (by necessity, since Lakhin fouled out). I believe 34 is the most minutes Davenport has ever played with Wes Miller as coach.

Shrinking the bench means we're going to have to slow the game down and stop pressing to preserve energy.

A wins better than a loss, but we didn't really show any reason for hope in this game. Louisville was inept on both ends and we still played hero ball for most of the game. Louisville was a mess on offense and DDJ's shot was falling and that was enough for Louisville to break down defensively. By midway through the second half their defense was pretty much letting us do whatever we wanted.

Bolded, can't imagine there will be much patience with Coach Payne given the high expectations Louisville has. The Cards had some talent on the floor--not enough for sure, but I didn't see much strategy or discipline in terms of their offense or defense.

Louisville had both Traynor and Michael James on its roster, both of whom UC pursued hard. Have to wonder if UC would still be interested in either or both of them if they soured on Loserville and entered the portal.

Friend from Anderson is a robust donor for UL. He says the reports coming out of the YUM! Center are a trifling concerning. Fans are freaking out.

Said the players aren't buying in because they aren't sure Payne has a clue what he's doing. He also said he expects mid season declaring for the portal.

He's concerned Payne may decide this just isn't for him and negotiate an exit.

Disaster hire thus far.

I was bummed when Louisville made the hire, because Payne seems likely a really good dude. And Louisville doesn't deserve good people.
