It wasn't that long ago that we would have several teams in or just below the Top 25. I think one season we had four teams in the Top 25 for a portion of it.

So much coaching turnover. Some of that was climbing the coaching ranks. Others were poor hires. UCF, SMU, Houston, and Temple have all had HCs elevate their programs only to jump ship. We've also had that so there are no tears. Just a lot of gratitude for Coach Fickell's willingness to keep building here.

You left out Memphis but I understand your point. That does explain some of it but this season it looked like Houston/UCF/ECU would rise up to play better overall. Tulane was a bonus but that got deflated tonight losing to USM. Last season it was just us and Houston. Navy has gone by-gone for years now. Doesn't really matter in the end since we're heading to the B12 but this league's overall depth quality has been in a downward trajectory despite taking the last 5 NY6 bids IMO.

Kenneth Walker deserves royalties on that $95M guaranteed that 20-16 all time HC Mel Tucker stole from the State of Michigan last season lol.

Best part is, their big money donor Gores forked over the money to pay Tucker, so I doubt he's going to set even more on fire to get rid of him and hire another coach, especially with nearly 9-figured guaranteed. Can't wait to watch MSU just creep back into the John L Smith/Bobby Williams oblivion they were in for the 90s and early 00s.

MSU is the scummiest AD in America IMO (even worse than Penn State), so I'm thrilled with how things have played out exactly like any rational person could've imagined.

The meltdown there is delicious. There's a big group that wants Tucker fired pronto. The group that understands they owe him almost $100M so that ain't happenin', wants the coordinators/coaches fired, especially Hazelton, the DC. Who do they want to replace the DC? Mike Tressel of course, LOL.

Until they meet (insert random SEC opponent here) in the CFP.

Are we talking about the O$U that racked up 21 points against ND?

I'll reserve my judgement on them until which time they play somebody.

I noted that the new crown jewels of the SEC were both flamed by our new B12 brethren yesterday.

Good point; how about that! The new Big 12 shows great promise and if Yormark is able to pull some more bricks from the Pac 12 foundation (four corners schools), UC may be moving from "P6" this year to "P4" if the Pac 12 comes completely undone after raids from the B10 and Big 12.

I don’t know about in the whole country. But they are hands down the best team in the Big Ten by far. I don’t think anyone in the conference can compete with them this year. Maybe Michigan and Penn State can keep it somewhat close. Maybe.

Kansas State is pretty good. No idea how they lost to Tulane at home.

Who is the most overrated B1G coach?

1. Kirk Ferentz
2. Pat Fitzgerald
3. Mel Tucker
4. Paul Chryst
5. The B1G should be ashamed that PJ Fleck doesn't even make the list.

Save for an occasional upset, nobody has competed with them this past decade. The divide between OSU and teams 5-14 in the B10 most years is cavernous. It’s like they are playing at a different league.

New Big XII had a pretty good day yesterday.

Texas Tech beat Texas
Kansas State beat Oklahoma
Kansas beat Duke
Cincinnati beat IU
UCF beat Georgia Tech
Houston beat Rice

That is five wins over power conference teams and one win over a future AAC team.

Bolded, well said. Further, recent CFP results suggest the divide between the best the B10 offers and the best of the SEC plus Clemson remains.

Perusing a couple of IU message boards this morning to survey the carnage, a few wise fans commented how much better UC's talent is than IU's. Most replies were dismissive of UC--how could a G5 have better talent than a B10 team? Better ask Northwestern fans that same question this morning too after losing to Miami (OH) last night.

Just how in the hell is Clemson #5?

Me and my IU buddy were talking about that yesterday. He said it seems like UC and IU (and UK and UofL) are on a lot of the same lists for recruits and he figured IU would win some battles because of them being in the B1G. But after he saw the atmosphere yesterday, he said he sees now why a recruit would pick UC. He mentioned how it will only get worse now that UC is in the Big 12.

Maybe they don't drop that far but i don't know how it boosts them, as least not in relation to top 25 rankings.

Happy for Navy’s win over EZU. ECU was a bad add to this conference and has been largely irrelevant since their arrival. On the hand, Navy is a program and an institution that incorporates values and principles that are honored and supported.

Was really surprised by this. ECU looked good so far this year and should have beat NC St. That's a WTF loss. I don't think they will be an easy out for UC.

Agreed. And here again is a case in point why the American can't break through in terms of perception. ECU could have/should have beaten NC State and, if undefeated, would be a ranked team. A ranked Houston team stumbled out of the gate and lost ranking. Tulane gets a great start and a big upset win @ KSU and stumbles.

Next season, UC can reasonably expect some losses in B12 conference games but those won't implode the rankings and the prospects for a major bowl the way a conference loss or two do in the AAC.
