I would agree that Oakland U and UD should be on our schedule every year.

IF we are permitted a game before Nov 11 (I don't know the actual start date for the 2022/23 season) I'd like a home game, vs UDM, non-D-I, etc (ANYONE who will come). Make it Ypsilanti Lincoln night. Sell tickets to students, staff, etc. at Ypsilanti Lincoln for say $5. OR maybe get GameAbove to chip in and buy say 500 tickets. Celebrate their state championship.

I’m with you. Not sure why we don’t regularly schedule home-home with adjacent Horzon/MVC league schools. Fear of recruiting competition?

Professor, I would agree that would have been an issue in the past. Oakland's coach emphasizes "scoring the ball" while our prior coach was more concerned with pass deflections and steals. We, as a result, were not the preferred destination.

That world changed, however, when Stan got hired. We now play an actual offense. Let's have fun playing OU, UDM and other close by Horizon League opponents, generate some decent crowds and save some travel money as well.

Paid for season baseball womens/mens friday.

I think we can safely say we will not open the season with UC San Diego.

We are owed home game by UCSD.

As far I remember which is long time. We've had at least 4 home games before conference games start. Two of those games are commonly non D1 games.

I simply cannot understand why the MAC cannot play a true round robin in basketball. Similar competition, low travel costs and you have a true regular conference champion.

I realize that this cannot happen in football, but honestly Division Champs in that sport are often aided by the quality of the crossover opponents on their schedule.

I'm a (partial plan) season ticket holder for the Wizards, no NBA schedules yet. The NBA season starts in 2 months.

Thank heavens that CFB schedules are usually baked in years ahead (we knew who and where, MAC and OOC, we'll play many months ago).

Is this the week we get additional player signings announced and the schedule? Did I hear August 16 somewhere????

Bonus comment: We still have not heard where Johnson is signing. Assume Kansas State but still no word. They begin classes a week from today. The clock is ticking...

I would think he'd have his things packed, residence picked, etc. I think we think of starting at a new college like starting a new job at McDonalds, "Sure I can start the day after tomorrow..."

EDIT: Here is a bit from Blue Ribbon Yearbook, the bible of college hoops, and they mention the problem of getting schedules into their yearbook:

"Unfortunately, that means we couldn’t include schedules in the book. Many schedules won’t be released until September, and now our to-the-printer deadline is Aug. 31. "

As I have said many times, it may take an act of Congress to get schedules made. It seems it is more difficult than negotiating an arms treaty for schools to agree to OOC games.

BTW, for those interested they will have the digital download version by September 1.
