Devastating? Men's hoops returned to NCAA Tournament for first time in eight years. Not a banner year for football last season but but did get nice win over State, saw emergence of great freshman QB and got a bowl bid. Women's hoops finished above .500 for first time since 2016. Women's soccer won the AAC (again) and went to NCAA Tournament (again).

Shouldn't we be judging our athletic program more by the performance on the field now against who they play now, rather than who we might end up in a conference with down the road?

No, Memphis should be very, very worried about how the conference realignment is going to end and how they are going to end up on the right side of the Tier 2 line if there is one. If there is not one then Memphis is already screwed and it will just take a few years for it all to wind down.

Unless Hennigan has a horrible year he will likely be gone after this season to greener pastures and huge NIL $$$$$.

It’s all fantasy. We would have accepted almost anything they would have offered. We just got passed over by teams that took care of business (facilities). We did almost nothing and seem surprised we didn’t get invited. BYU was the wildcard. I’d think we would be in if they didn’t decide to go to the Big 12.

Yes that is the rational criteria, but many of the most outspoken people on the board are either irrational or delusional. There should be a padded chat room just for them.

There are some purported copies of the ACC GORs flying around. In the one I saw, adding a new school does NOT allow the other schools an escape. The GOR remains binding when a new school is added and no school can be added unless they agree to the terms of the GOR.

This is good for Memphis. It means the ACC can expand without automatically falling apart. Maybe they will.

I realize that much of the speculation is swirling around Oregon and Washington (and the aftermath that has the BigXII circling) plus Notre Dame. But the Big10 can have Oregon or Wash anytime they so desire and Notre Dame, say what you will, is likely to wind up there. Therefore, I predict that the next major grab by the SEC or Big10 is elsewhere.
Will the SEC believe they have to act quickly (defensively) to add teams they desire which might be approached by the Big10, who not so long ago added Maryland and Rutgers? Read: North Carolina, Virginia along with more obvious choices.

It wasn't intentional. That said I don't think it's all doom and gloom for Memphis. It's hard to say where this ends. What's left of the Pac-12 and or Big 12 and what's left of the ACC May provide some opportunities. Glass half full Maybe LOL

I understand your position, but if 4 teams from ACC were poached, what four programs would clearly be ahead of us? I’m assuming you’re thinking that teams would be willing to leave Big12 for ACC, especially for geographic reasons (WVU, Cinci, UCF), but that may not be the case if Big12 football perceived as then being stronger.
