Yeah, even little kids were cussing me out on the way out of Aloha Stadium in 2008.

when it's the only draw in like 500 or whatever miles, i can give them a pass. i mean, where else they gonna go?

hawaii football to a hawaii should be like local high school football but magnified. i was watching in some hostel in waikiki for nye back in aught eight when hawaii was getting slapped around in whatever bowl and truth be told i don't think it was at all advertised much. or maybe i didn't care

Nebraska football is the only draw for a significant distance, and it's an entirely different scene. Some of the nicest fans I've ever experienced (I drove out there from Denver with an Ohio State buddy to watch the Buckeyes in Lincoln).

On IU and Nippert, I'm sure they'll sell out their allotment.

I hung out with several ucf fans at Mac's after the game last year. They universally raved about their Nippert experience, both the environment and how welcoming our fans were. Over the years this is how nearly every visiting fan one interacted with at or after uc football games felt.

Like most places you will encounter arseholes and decent fans.

I found both at IU.

At ND no issues.

IL fans were hospitable.

UL and Pitt were mostly douche bags.

WVU was 80% arses. Marshall fans were hospitable.

Years ago Miami was arses but in the last 10 years they had become resigned to being mediocre.

No issues at Toledo, Akron, BGSU.

Tulane had some ******* fans.

I can’t say that I’ve been to a lot of away games, so
maybe my tolerance for antisocial fan behavior is low. Never had any problem at Ohio State (3x), Pitt, Marshall, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (multiple times), Toledo, North Carolina (bowl game).

Alabama fans were passive-aggressive douches, though my brother in law had to call security on the threatening Bama fan next to him.

IU students were complete asses.

Forgot to mention bowls as they are on neutral turf. NC no issues. VT fans were a mixed bag. Southern Miss had few fans. Vandy fans were obnoxious until the end. FL fans where mostly drunk. Duke fans were ******** even after giving us the game.

Vandy fans were ok, though I don’t recall having exposure to them

When uc played at Oklahoma in 2008 their fans were incredibly welcoming and the all basically said "if you think we're welcoming, go to a game at Nebraska." Shame that trip went away.

It definitely changed the game at that point. Bottom line is we won. I know we have a lot of holes plugged for our player losses, but it won’t be easy to replace all that leadership. We must beat Indiana this year and hopefully blow them out!.

IU would've won the game if they'd scored more points than UC. Everything else is opinion (to borrow a sentiment from Lucretius).

That was clearly targetting, but it's a shame that a gets kicked out of the game for it.

OSU fans are patronizing towards the other Ohio schools. "We think it's great that OSU gives your school a chance to play here." "We're big fans of all Ohio football"

Post CFP and B12, my hunch is UC fans might see the uglier side of them. I'm talking about the t-shirts. The actual alums tend to be much more laid back about the whole football thing than the t-shirts who seem to thump their chest extra hard to compensate for not really being part of the university.

The t-shirts, at least in the Cincy area, have been insufferable for years. Most of the grads seem to be more laid back. However, they are just arrogant.

My wife is a tOSU grad and I made a number of friends in Columbus who also went to OSU. They t-shirt fans often embarrass the alumni, either by acting poorly at games and/or tailgates, on talk radio or at work and in other public places. That being said they acknowledge the t-shirt fans spend a lot of money on OSU merch, tickets, concessions, etc.

We could use some more fans like that.

There are two OSU alums in our firm. One of them doesn't care about football at all, and the other is what I'd call a moderate or casual fan. Both of them loathe the t-shirts.

My hunch is that the Cincinnati t-shirts are probably worse than most given that SW Ohio is the one part of the state that isn't full-on kool aid drinking, so they overcompensate and chest thump even more.

I'm an alum and my grade (friend group) was a bit odd. We were into the football games but attended one or two max a year and that was with my friend group being pretty close to a couple of the stars on the last Natty Champ team.

We were casual fans that loved the Buckeyes but we didn't let it ruin or make our day based of a W or L. My experience was the worst alumni fans (assuming they graduated) come from Cleveland area and are also Browns fans. While some consider these types a great fanbase, I consider them passionate ignorant drunk trashy peasants.

This is the theory I'm starting to realize and believe. I've had numerous bad interactions with Ohio State fans over the years. The vast majority of the bad interactions are with non-alumni. I always approach football talk in a positive manner, no matter the team you support but many OSU fans would instantly respond with negative and insulting things. Many would assume I'm an OSU fan because I'm from Ohio. They'd say that I have to support OSU because it's Ohio's team. They say things like "You're a UC fan? No cares about UC" or "no one gives a **** about UC" or they say "UC? They suck. They're terrible." For some reason they felt the need to instantly trash and insult UC and my fandom just because I wasn't an OSU fan.

I will say that I've had better interactions with OSU fans here in Columbus. Not sure if it's because I run into more alumni or what. Maybe that's the reason.

But through my interactions online and in person, I'm starting to come to the conclusion that a large portion of OSU t-shirt fans in the Cincinnati area are especially bad. I think they are upset that OSU isn't the number one college fandom in town and OSU isn't the biggest show around. They love to crap on any success UC has and diminish anything the teams and school does. UC fans will say UC is the most popular college team in town and they will either say "NO! That's not true. OSU is easily the favorite team. You don't see anything UC once you step off campus." or they'll say "Well of course UC is more popular, Cincinnati is Kentucky." Like the idea of UC being more popular in the city is somehow some huge blow to them and is somehow UC getting a "win" over OSU in a way.

Not my experience with osu alums. I know tons and almost all of them are unbearable to talk college sports with. Literally every team not named osu is trash in their opinion, and UC is a bottom level MAC type of program.

As a Cincy kid I didn’t even know any osu fans. Then they won the title in ‘01 and their local bandwagon swelled. I jumped on as a casual fan even though they weren’t my primary team. Their fans were so miserable within a couple years I left them completely. Just a horrible fanbase.

Upon hearing I am not an OSU fan I have frequently hear "But they are your state university!" To which I respond "No UC is my Ohio state university".

Of course we will never be what to$u is. They get all the help from state officials by bribery (tickets to games, etc.). UC is IMHO to to$u like MSU is to MU, ISU is to PSU, FSU to FL.

This goes in line with my experience as well except none of these Cleveland fans are alumni.

I've found Cleveland fans generally to be insufferable.

Unhealthily obsessed with Lebron, worst Ohio State homers in the state despite living 2+ hours from Columbus, and gained a large sense of entitlement over the past decade due to the relative success of their 3 professional sports teams.

This is legit. This primarily comes from the tOSU fans in the outlying suburban communities-- particularly in Butler, Warren and Clermont County. There has long been a divide between the people in the suburbs and the city (in fairness it goes both ways). I say this as someone who lives in the burbs and is fairly conservative, I think the bias has to do with perceptions about the poorest neighborhoods in the city and the African-Americans who reside there and attaching it to the university (which ironically is only 8-9% black). The other irony is that OSU resides in a similar neighborhood and has more black students than UC (similar percentage but larger numbers due to a larger enrollment).

West Chester has gotten better. Since moving here, there are more and more UC flags and yard signs. Majority of the osu fans in our neighborhood are Cry-ami grads. They have nothing to do with their alma mater, but are all in on Columbus. I try to put up my 8ft Bearcat as much as possible. Little kids in the neighborhood love it, even if the parents grit their teeth.
