He certainly is getting good looks. The responses to his SMU tweet seemed like some of them really want him. Seems like he won’t be able to pick and choose, but should land somewhere decent nonetheless.
He has NBA size, and was 1st team all state, and led his High school team to a state championship! Not surprised! Had bigger offers out of high school also!

Maybe he returns?
Antoine Davis announced that he was coming back to Detroit Mercy today.

I want Mo to get what he wants within his actual capabilities. He seems like a nice kid.
That being said, his major asset is his length at 6"10". He right now is a taller but clumsier Jalen King or Bud Jones with a better shooting touch. Yes, he has stats at EMU, but when you are competing with seniors Okongo and Binelli for the 5 spot, you inevitably will get the minutes to accumulate such stats on a 5-15 MAC team. Let's be honest, Mo was out his depth in the MAC this year, we were hoping he could eventually develop, but he simply got ate up in the 2021-22 season by the other league Centers.
I'm actually sanguine with his transfer. He was a HUGE project for Stan and yet it is obvious his eyes were on greener pastures. Another season at EMU could have produced a better Mo but wasted a season for us. Good luck Mo!

I wish both them and Mo well. I'm not as skilled in talent evaluation as the pros, after all I figured Ty Groce would tear it up in Indianapolis and instead he kept the bench toasty. I just don't think Mo has the athletic abilities to actually start on a team at the next level of NCAA men's basketball.

Mo seems to be enjoying his recruiting attention, but has he received any offers? Is he everybody's plan B or C?
I predict Cleveland State or Wright State for him.

Gosh I hope not, but you may be right Nickle. Expending your "free" transfer year for a lateral or downward move to a similar academic institution would seem ridiculous to say the least.
I thought Mo might be looking for a more prestigious school to get his degree and I would support that decision wholeheartedly. If he, however, thinks he will be big-time NCAA player, he is dead wrong! Zero foot speed, limited agility and no leaping ability are not going to make it. Sparks is currently exponentially superior to Mo, has a much higher upside and yet he is staying at Ball St. Enough said. I hope he enjoys the present courtships and makes the most out of them.

Mo chooses SMU.

Best of luck to him.
At one point in time, Mo wanted to return to EMU, but his father a big factor in his decision to leave. Will see how that works out.
SMU has three very good bigs, including a new 5-star player. Don’t see him getting much playing time.

I guess we are into semantics, but SMU played two NIT games in March.
AAC is a good conference. SMU was 24 - 9 and ranked #53 by the Sagarins. Beat a lot of big name teams like Houston, Memphis, Cincy, etc.

RE: M Njie Transferring
I believe Mo (my speculation only) transferred because he wants the “Now” program vs waiting what Coach Heath can do at EMU. I believe Coach Heath will lead EMU back to the NCAA tournament if we’re patient with him.
SMU is better than us currently but it would be fun to square off against them. I believe SMU averaged 5000-6000 fans plus they have a coach with an outstanding resume
From their website……”Lanier, who comes to the Hilltop from Georgia State, arrives with more than 30 years as a collegiate coach, including seven seasons as a head coach. His teams have made 12 NCAA Tournaments and earned 19 total postseason bids. Those teams also have five conference titles, three regular season championships and two tournament crowns, plus five more trips to a league tournament final.
“I couldn’t be more honored to lead the program on the Hilltop,” said Lanier. “SMU’s location in the heart of Dallas, Texas, the beautiful campus, stellar academic reputation and overall commitment to excellence make it the perfect fit for me and my family. I’m excited to get to work and to take this program to the next level.”
In his three seasons at Georgia State, the Panthers went 53-30, winning the Sun Belt Tournament in 2022 and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers also made the Sun Belt Tournament final in 2021. Additionally, he led GSU to a victory over Georgia Tech, the program’s first win over an ACC opponent. The Panthers also claimed the 2019-20 2K Empire Classic Riverside Regional.“
EMU can have more success but we need to start winning this season

Think I can summarize your thoughts, mine, and others.
EMU is in the early (yes, early) stages of a total rebuild. It is NOT the ideal place for a player who wants to win NOW. Examples might be a 5th year player using his last year of eligibility. EMU has to get to .500 before worrying about winning 20 games. Rome wasn't built in a day and rarely is a MBB team built in a year.
Now, with the transfer portal instead of signing on a program and hope it flourishes, what we are seeing is "pick the winner." Find a program which won in 2021/2 and join it. Why delay gratification for say 2 years??

Agree that Heath is smartly rebuilding the team. He has Noah, Golson, Rice, and Randle (RS), and Ballard returning. All are good players, and except for Ballard, all are sophomores.
Heath’s new recruiting class includes good young transfers in Acuff, Legend Billingsley, and a freshman. He probably has three more openings to fill.
EMU is on the right track.
Although I had high hopes for Njie at the beginning of the season, I’ll never miss a player who commits excessive turnovers and fouls. Don’t mean to be cruel, but I look at his leaving as an upgrade.
