Pretty much the only answer there is. The Grizzlies and people that cover them don't give two s***s about the Tigers. That's not smack talk...that's just fact.

Great exposure for the city and will help with recruitment (Kendrick Davis spoke of Ja and Bane reaching out to him). But I highly doubt it impacts conference movement. That is mostly football driven.

George Lapides said that the fixed/fake/rigged rasslin league/team coming to MEMPHIS would be the worst thing to happen to the TIGERS---and I agree.

wrong
the worst thing that could have happened to the Tigers was Memphis acquiring an NFL franchise
but since they didn't build a new stadium and decided to stick with an old stadium there is nothing to worry about there

RE: Can @Grizzlies media success help Memphis Tigers......
Thanks for the responses...however, must admit .....if the Grizzlies are generating, interest; popularity; revenue in many different aspects to the city, as well as investors....Indirectly, these should at some point direct efforts/attention towards "facilities"....those facilities could become "on campus" facilities/stadiums that in esscense means that the media market has grown....maybe it's very forward thinking, as well as incredibly indirect...but what "other" influences do we have that have direct effect on our media market that spurts the growth required to be at the same table, as the more success the Grizz have, more revenue for the city in tourism; overall revenue & more attention on the city as a whole...
As an example....Players are wanting to play here...partly due to the Grizzlies....It would be difficult to calculate of course....However, we know this exists.....When you take in consideration of the region that this mostly affects (SEC) this is going to factor into someones calculations....It's very premature....however, the crescendo of the @Grizzlies popularity is nothing to smirk @...This is NOT small potatoes...Someone is doing the numbers....trust
This crescendo has "investors" from many facits hedging future plans on Memphis....why wouldn't one of those investors be the SEC.....Especially since that conference is most directly impacted.....just a thought....amped for@Grizz to whoop this trick.....No peeing in my Crunch Berries today

The death of Rex Dockery was perhaps the worse thing that did happen to Tigers football. Only Tigers coach that was able to keep the top Memphis talent at Memphis.

RE: Can @Grizzlies media success help Memphis Tigers......
I remember ten or fifteen years ago the Grizzlies looked into creating the "Grizz sports channel". One that would carry Grizz games so they didn't have to depend on networks like FS1 and now Bally. So they were looking for additional content and asked the Tigers and the Nashville Predators if they would be interested in that concept. Both said no. I think that was a mistake for the Tigers. And the Preds too. That channel would now be a big success. Just think of the coverage and interest that would have produced for each program across the state and region. And probably several other teams would have joined too. It may have been tremendous PR for the university.

I will say that he was right more times than not.
Toward the end he was asked if he thought MEMPHIS would ever get in a power 5 league ---he said no ---I hope he misses on that one

RE: Can @Grizzlies media success help Memphis Tigers......
How soon folks forget that Ja Morant and Desmond Bane reached out and/or saw Kendrick Davis prior to his commitment to the Tigers
commercialappeal Wrote:“Ja reached out. He said, ‘Man, if you come, that’s all the city needs,’” said Davis. “Bane came out at one point during my visit. So the players, the city, the Grizzlies, they’ve all been welcoming me with open arms.”
“I’ve been working, trying to get DeAndre (Williams) and Lester (Quinones) to stay,” he said. “I keep in touch with them all day. I don’t want to say anything (prematurely). I’m optimistic.”
Envisioning a starting lineup that could potentially include himself, Murphy (an AAC all-freshman selection two seasons ago), Quinones and Williams, Davis sees parallels in how the Grizzlies line up.
“Les is gonna be Bane. DeAndre is gonna be Jaren Jackson. I’m gonna be Ja Morant. Caleb can be Dillon Brooks and, then, whoever we have at the five spot will be Steven Adams,” said Davis.
