Exactly. Lomax’s defense was crucial—and we knew going in that stopping Davis from going off was perhaps one of the biggest keys to winning this game. Think about what Lomax did, folks, against the league’s MVP, who also had something to do with causing a few of those Lomax turnovers.

7 TOs or not, Alo played really well overall today. He left it all on the court.

One turnover was when the SMU player was holding his elbow and they called a held ball. Another was when Williams passed it to him with 1 second on the shot clock; another was when he was fouled with no foul called, and the shot I guess ended up being a block. He made a couple of really bad plays, that is true. He also threw a ball out of bounds when Dandridge cut into two opposing SMU players instead of making himself available as an outlet.

I agree, i think this win puts us in as the 7 seed.

I think they may have us with a 6 with the intention of flipping us to a 5 if we win or a 7 if we lose. They have those scenarios baked in so that they dont require additional time after the game to do it.

Come on man, there is no way we are a 6, much less a 5 seed.

7 is our ceiling, imo. Probably and 8 or 9 even if we win tomorrow.

I’m not sure why some hope that SMU doesn’t make the NCAA tournament. They’ll continue to be in our conference next year, and I’m not aware of truly bad blood between the two schools. Seems to me that it elevates Memphis’s stature to be from a conference that gets three teams in. Remember being the only team from C-USA? Being from a “weak, one bid conference” was continuously used against us to diminish our accomplishments and provided a razor-thin margin for error.

Yeah I am expecting us to be in around the 7 to 8 bracket. I think they will bracket us tomorrow before the game ends based on getting to the championship game.

Did you watch the replay? There was no foul and I’m telling the truth. I don’t hate Lomax, I’m pissed at him! Going forward in the NCAA tournament you have to be damn near perfect to advance and after all these years with Penny plus the time at Memphis he should be perfect. Tyler Harris basically got run off because he wasn’t doing well or Penny needed the scholarship so he went away for a year, worked his ass off then came back being the best he could possibly be considering his size. Lomax has had it way better than that so it pisses me off, same with Malcolm.

Tyler was done a huge disservice by his coaches not turning him into a PG from day one. With the right coaching he could be the best PG in the AAC by now.

Yeah but how many minutes did Williams and Duren play? They were on the bench a lot with foul trouble/injury. It’s a tournament, the schedule is tough for all teams.

Gotta stop leaving his feet with nowhere to go, but he did a lot of good things today. Loved the block he got at the rim to prevent an easy runout layup.
