I don't think spotting the other team a 12 point lead right out of the chute is a good strategy.

It’s not fun to watch. It hasn’t been fun since Nevada. This program needs something good to happen. It’s the opposite of the football program.

Fair question. We aren’t what our fans think we are anymore. Upside is only 3/4 of an ounce would be an upgrade over most of this roster.
Top facilities, tradition, good fan base, and the Big XII in the near future.
No reason this level of play should be allowed to continue.
Despite that Final 4 30 years ago I fear we are going to get clubbed like baby seals in the B12 in 2 seasons. Like USF in the AAC bad.
The amount of apathy surrounding this program right now is crazy.
I’m not sure anyone outside of this board or at the game knows/cares about this result.
there would be plenty of interest if they were better. the losing at home is not helping. UC fans are not used to that

MAW with a 2-15 night. Good Lord.
Temple is so rotten at handling the ball I have no idea why we waited so long to press. A lot of this is the roster but Wes still has some learning to do on the job.

This team has such mediocre D1 players and coupled with the amazingly low BB IQ is a recipe for what we are being exposed to.....How can a coach never change defenses during a game, wtf.....apathy will soon surround this program if not already.....

Its been a meh 3 years to be sure.
I ******* loathe this style of basketball the program has morphed into the past couple years.

UC gets next to nothing offensively from their big men. Will they ever have a good center or power forward again?

I actually like the style of play, they just don't have the players to execute it.

If Wes and his staff doesn't develop some serious recruiting abilities, this program is doomed. You can't go into XII play with a roster like this, you just can't.

This. When it's clicking, like it was against WSU the other night, it's fun to watch. They just don't have the players who can score on a regular basis. (and who has some questionable bball IQ)

I also can't shake the impression that this program hasn't been the same since Nevada. The student section was crap today, and hasn't been good for awhile, but it's worth noting that only 5th year students (and older) were around before the Nevada Disaster.

On paper, I like the 2022 class. I think Wes made a mistake though filling all 13 scholarships, and setting himself up to only have two guys running out of eligibility. I get why he did it, but the end result is he bought himself maybe one or two more wins this year at the expense of future roster flexibility. Obviously Brannen putting Banks on scholarship didn't help either, although I generally like that sort of thing. Wes should have left a couple of his transfers at UNCG. He could have recruited guys with more potential in 2022 and 2023 rather than eating up roster spots for the next 2-3 years.

The slow passing around the top without any purpose is maddening. We pound the ball make a couple passes that don’t accomplish anything after one weak attempt at setting a pick and then chuck it up most possessions. Same offense we ran last year under Brannen if I’m to be entirely honest. Not having anyone in position to rebound on attempts is bad basketball. Some of that is the guys on the floor but I refuse to accept that this is all we can run with the guys we have.

Davenport will be your starting 4 again next year. The 5 will be Lahkin or a guy from the portal if Vik decides to leave which wouldn’t be entirely shocking under the circumstances of who he came to play for and the role he is currently in.
I fear next year could be very similar to this year even if DDJ is back. Lots of the same pieces in the exact same roles. Same guy syndrome.
Skillings could be a good one and he brings desperately needed height to the guard position but often the best thing about most true freshmen is that they turn into sophomores (old joke stolen from Bob H.).
We need more help than just 3 freshmen.

RE: UC v Temple game thread 2/20 @ 2PM at 5/3
We all knew before the season started that this would be a transition year. Wes was taking over a terrible situation from a disaster of a HC in Brannen. When CLF came in, he was in the same situation taking over for a disaster of a head coach, and honestly, CLF's first year was really bad. 4-8, but a 1 point win over UConn, 1 point win over Tulane, 4 point win over Miami (OH) and a 12 point win over the powerhouse that was Austin Peay. We all remember that UConn missed an extra point to tie the game @ the end-- it was a close game and not a great season. It was a terrible season and could have been worse, but it was year 1 and CLF had to clean up the mess leftover by TT.
We all knew that this season would be tough as Wes tried to get anyone he could from the transfer portal to get to 12 guys on the team. When you are an average team, you are going to get up and down results.
I'm excited to see the 3 recruits that he signed for 2022. Isn't this incoming class the highest rated in like 7 or 8 years? I love the players that Wes is targeting for 2023 as well.
This season-- I'm not bothered, but next season-- Coach Wes, the Players and the Fans will all expect better play and results. This is why I'm not getting my panties in a bunch about this season. It's year 1 and Wes has to clean up JB's mess.

Agree, but it's the regression in this year's program that has us all worried. Good coaches have their team improving as year goes forward regardless of starting position. This is not occurring.

The problem is that other than Lakhin, most of the players who will return have very little room to develop and essentially "are who they are" at this point in their careers due to physical limitations.
We're asking Skilling and Reed to turn a team that isn't even good enough for the NIT into a tournament contender in year 2.
Too big of an ask for me. Wes dropped the ball with this season's roster.
