that ain't happening

I never say never but I would say the chances are very slim Auburn would allow it.

If their story is true, they approved her hiring. If it's not, they (the Auburn boosters/trustees) have labeled this chick a whore and completely trashed her career, all to avoid paying a guy they hired by their own choice, what, 18 months ago or something?

Either way, these are not people with whom any sane person should enter a business relationship. Five years, $50 million, see you in court if you want to collect the back end of the deal, after we wreck your marriage, family and friends.

Bruce Pearl is an utterly perfect fit for their culture.

He had an assistant charged by the FBI and imprisoned, and nothing happened to him or his program. He's a living insult to all that is right and good in this world, and strides past the filth and the crime untouched.

So no, he's really, really good at cheating.

He has two major infractions and a three year show cause penalty, he's not good at cheating.

And Chuck Person wasn't either.

And yet he just signed a $50,000,000 contract despite his cheating. So, I can see why some say he is good at it. If he were bad a cheating, he'd be banned for life. That he's only gotten a slap on the wrist demonstrates he has done something right. Person on the other hand- well, he's now a felon, so he's not as good. Or maybe he just doesn't have the pull that Pearl does to get himself out of a jam.

...this is what I think the reality is down there... I mean, there wasn't any talk of Harsin 'mistreating' players at Boise, so... unless something snapped in his philosophy in that time, he is just 'culling out the dead wood', as there evidently was (is) quite a bit of it.

This might explain how AU had such a bad bowl record under Gus - I bet they barely practiced for them... well, I can't assume anything like that, but... seems like Gus was comfortable getting them to 8-4, 9-3 on a good year, and counting the $$$... and whupping SaBear every third year was enough to keep him out of harm's way for awhile...

That's probably fair, although I also can't discount some of the racial/not understanding the kids talk about. My guess is that his player/coach/family numbers were substantially less Black there than they are here. Add that there are substantial cultural differences between the deep South and Idaho.

I don't claim to know anything. I just think that they may have wounded him to the point that staying isn't tenable, particularly given that he could get knifed again at any time.

Auburn and Michigan are both going to go into the season with multiple self inflicted wounds. Gonna be interesting to watch.

...that aspect is a tough one to evaluate - I can only note that there have been several players coming out FOR him, at least as many who were critiquing him... so with that, the real story typically is somewhere in-between (but I'd give him the 'benefit of the doubt' that he is ultimately still learning about the 'SEC' way of recruiting (i.e., more interaction with family)).

But his general 'vibe' is not extremely warm and fuzzy, at least compared to his predecessor. His interactions with the 'Big Wheels' down there (and they have a lot, of course, probably MANY more than BSU did) may need some improvement as well, if he survives... just the way it is in SECworld 03-phew

I also keep forgetting this is the second time Harsin followed Gus - he replaced Malzahn at Arkansas State for a season, before the Boise position opened up. Would have been interesting to see how he would have done if he stayed at ASU for a few more seasons... ...and with that, perhaps learning a bit more about 'east of the Rockies' football culture...

but IF AU and Michigan eke out bowl eligibility in '22, they would HAVE to put them together... the talking heads for the game would have GOBS of backstory... 03-drunk

...but if he DOES get canned, and for 'general reasons' (i.e., not the 'tomfoolery' rumored to be in place), then I say we think pretty hard to throw him a rope to be our new OC... dude is not bad on that side of things, for sure...

but he would probably end up in the 'Saban rehab'... 03-drunk

ok enough non-Blazer talk, sorry, y'all... 03-phew

RE: Hopefully NBR: Auburn looking for reason to fire Harsin for cause.
The general sense in and around the Auburn
Sphere remains that Harsin has coached his final
Auburn game and managed his final Auburn
practice. The program has ground to a halt for
obvious reasons. The search for an offensive
coordinator is on hold for obvious reasons. This is
a very awkward and potentially damaging period
for the football program, though the forces
aligned against Harsin felt this was inevitable
with or without Harsin in the corner office.
We sense that unofficial, cursory contacts
(commonly referred to as "feelers") are being
established with a couple potential candidates
should Harsin be fired. We do not believe former
defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, now at Miami,
is one of those targets.

Not looking good, and I’m not talking about Auburn.

Auburns’s football program is a clown show, has been for years. Yes they have won some games, but behind the scene there are to many people still fighting over control. If one side doesn’t get their way, they grenade the whole program over seeing it succeed if they weren’t the ones to put that coach in place. Until those guys figure out how to play nice with each other, never going to happen, this program will continue as it has. Not sure why any coach would willingly go to Auburn without a huge buyout in the contract. At least then when they push you out, you get PAID!!!

Going through 2014-2016 here by no fault of your own is bad enough. To willingly walk into the dumpster fire of Auburn is just masochistic.

No way Harsin is coming back. I also don't believe UAB is in any jeopardy of losing Clark this upcoming season.

Or just place it here in Blazer Talk Bar 7 Grille
https://csnbbs.com/forum-393.html

Figure the reason people place NBR stuff here is because it won't get traction in other forums.
