We're not beating anyone consistently unless we start making free throws.

Welp, since getting back from a covid break, JMU has been pretty bad losing 4 of the last 5. We have had some injuries, but mostly the defensive intensity that we had at the beginning of the season is missing.

Congrats Trojans......Your team played at a much higher intensity level than the Jags in the first half.....Gotta say I was somewhat disappointed in the crowd at Trojan Arena tonight.....I frankly expected it to be packed after Thursday.....Student turn out looked pretty good....Good luck the rest of the season.....

What??? Troy had more in attendance for their home game than USA did... and it was the highest attended SBC game of the season.

Well I'll tell ya what, the TV shots showed a lot of empty seats on side across from benches. Well I did hear it was a great atmosphere from several Jag fans who went. Congrats, we played poorly but you bunch had a lot to do with it. Revenge is always sweet.

The seats are multicolored, which to me always make it hard to tell how many people are there. It could be completely empty and looks like people are there just because some seats are cardinal, some seats are gray, and some seats are black (which I’m sure was the purpose of that). There were a lot of empty seats on the camera side in the first half, but the other side looked full. Then as the game went on by time it got to the second half most of the camera side was full too. I think there were just a lot of late arrivals.

Yup. Zero reason to lose either game this week EXCEPT FT shooting. Very disappointing.
Congrats to the GA teams though. They did what they had to do.

I don't know what's happening to UL, but if they could wait another week or so before figuring out their issues, I'd appreciate it greatly...

No. When we begin averaging 5K per game and having sell out crowds I'll consider us to be a hoops school.

Two things to note about App next season…we’re going to lose a TON of experience. Forrest, Delph, Lewis and Almonacy will all be gone but it looks like we’ll gain some height across the board and that’s something App sorely needs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kerns dip back into that transfer portal to find a good ball handler and shooter off the bench.

Delph & Lewis actually have a Covid year available. Good chance Adrian comes back, Lewis probably not.

Same story at UTA. Our point guard is shooting about 40% (not a typo). He’s missed free throws that would have put us comfortably ahead against Southern, that we ended up losing. Yesterday, he missed one that would have tied it against Texas St.

As a team we shot poorly in regulation against ULM in a game that went to OT where we lost. Our FT shooting was okay in a 3 OT loss to Little Rock, but obviously one more somewhere…

High comfort late yesterday at Coastal knowing our main guards shoot 95% (Eaton leads nation) and 81% from the FT line. I think they said Eaton is 56/59 this year. Omier shoots in the mid 70s from the line as well.

Same at JMU

Maybe we should have free throw shooting contest

NC State always has good players looking to transfer out. Need to get them back for effing us up with Devonte Graham. We can’t afford any UNC players.

Well then look out Sun Belt. We’ll be stacked. I’d have to think at the mid major level where most guys are 4 year guys, the lack of minutes because they’re gobbled up by Covid seniors wouldn’t be too detrimental. Then again, we’re in the transfer portal era where a guy gets impatient and bolts for more PT. It’s got to be a nightmare to navigate those muddy waters.

We'll be losing a lot of experience though and no real presence in the middle with Lewis graduating.

My guess of next years starting five would be:

PG: Xavion Brown
SG: Michael Eads
SF: Donovan Gregory
PF: CJ Huntley
C: RJ Durhart

Other guys in the rotation:

Christopher Mantis SG/SF
Terrence Harcum PG
Sasha Glushkov C
Transfer SG/SF

Not a lot of offense in that lineup. My guess is the incoming freshman may have a chance to garner significan playing time, especially if Delph doesn't return. Only Gregory and Huntley have been playing important minutes among that starting lineup. Eads has been one of the first off the bench, Brown hasn't played in over a month, and Duhart has seen a real drop in his minutes. I think Mantis and Harcum will be good but have only had spot appearances and Harcum has seen a dramatic reduction since early season.

App needs Delph to come back or Kerns style of play will have to change dramatically.

We'll have issues breaking the press, shooting from range, and defending the paint next year with that lineup.
