Hell of a game by Moss. We don’t win tonight without him.

The big guy had maybe his best game. Still looks lost on D but got a couple strong boards and a nice baseline hook. Altered a couple shots. We may have something there.

Offensively he seems much more on the ball. He is in the wrong area code on d sometimes.

Yeah, when JT swapped with Mihai, our D headed south, too dang slow. But man he takes up some space in the paint. I still like his upside.

This was an important win because we only play Akron this one time. If we had lost we would have only had a one game lead over Akron and they would’ve had the tiebreaker. We would also be in a virtual tie with Ohio.

Now we have a little breathing room over Buffalo & Akron with Ohio coming in for our next home game on February 8th.

When his English picks up, he will be good. Defense is a lot about communication.

Thought it was a nice crowd. Typical Friday night UT crowds. Student sections were packed.

Nobody said it was going to be easy, but the Rockets weathered the storm and got their poise back the last 4 minutes. Again, great contributions by all 5 Starters with a great all around effort from Riam Moss with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. He seems much more confident on the offensive end and is not forcing it when he does not have anything. If we can get double digit points out of him each night, this team will be even better than their already offensively. What can you say about Ryan Rollins? While Akron did a great job on him defensively the first 25 minutes of the game, he did not try to force anything and did a great job setting up his teammates. But when they really needed him after Akron made that second half run, he took over the game scoring 17 points with most of them in crunch time. That is what you expect out of your Star Player! Next up two tricky road games at EMU and Ball St before coming home for a big rematch against Ohio U. They have done a great job of taking it one game at a time and not letting down their guard. Hopefully, that continues in Ypsi and Muncie next week!

Great job protecting home court once again! 9-0 at Savage this season and 12 in a row going back to last season. Only one loss in their last 25 home games. Wonderful performance by Moss and I am so impressed with Rollins stepping up when his team needed him the most. Glad they are on our team!

rollins maybe 80% on that ankle? good enough to play but not accelerating or jumping as aggressively. finds his mid range groove and just kills em down the stretch. unzipped them, if you will. he would have forced it more in the 1st half even early this season, but he's maturing as a player very quickly. waited until he could get good matchups in his spots down the stretch and made those shots. moss still can't dunk right. but he's fun to cheer for, just makes plays and plays d all day. dennis had a good game. neither milner or shumate had a big game but they combined for 21 pts and 15 reb 5 assists 5 blocked shots and only misses 6 shots. carcoana keeps giving you hope. kid has some game and his personality is starting to come out. he also doesn't have a clue sometimes, and that is bad. good to be tested and make some shots to put the game away in front of the home fans. best crowd since the pandemic.

Not these guys. At this point they have put a can of whoop *** on every MAC team they have been served up.

Let's go X and O. RayJ and Ryan (R squared) are the best guard combo in the MAC, and I don't think that is even debatable. The other team must also deal with Milner and JT inside, who do a great job given size and matchups. Which leaves the 3 spot - Moss. He not only plays great defense, but he's a load going the other way. Great passer, looks to dish if it's there, and will bust your balls taking down the lane.

When Akron made the run in the second half (you knew it was going to happen) Rollins did Rollins things, and RayJ chipped in with some super sweet buckets while running the offense that would make a Swiss watchmaker proud. Got some minutes out of the bench as well.

I'm starting to think this is a pretty good basketball team.

So tonight i got scared for 3 minutes when Akron closed it to 4....BECAUSE i thought... like coach K taught me to think over a decade... (Big droughts+ loss of focus = blown game).

No one have we gone toe to toe has been able to handle us when we also played well except the 1st half vs. Buffalo, first 30 mins vs. Ohio, and the 2nd half vs. MSU. We are untouchable when we are ON. Its a good place to be.

I can't believe someone hasn't commented on the baseline, twisting, whirly-gig layup Rollins made in the second half. It was like the upper and lower halves of his body were detached. One of the most athletic moves I've seen in recent memory.

I know Moss has had his dunking issues. He had one in the first half where you could tell he debated it going to the hoop, but thought better and laid it up. But on the putback dunk, he sky's over JT to flush it. He does have some hops. Overall the kid is a beast he does a lot of stuff very well for a guy only 6'4".

I love watching Ray J bringing up the ball. He is unflappable and in 100% command. Much more the PG than Marion ever was. Mj was a shoot first PG.

I found it interesting that Hill got in for the last 10 seconds. He must be healed up to dress.

I thought the officiating was all over the place. Called it both tight and loose, with plenty of head scratchers. The over and back call was a head scratcher. Unless he didn't establish position on our side of the court? Lots of mystery fouls. At one point shouldn't Akron been shooting 1 &1 and they got two shots?

Akron is a tough match up for us with their length. Hated to see our lead disappear, but it was fun to see us bear down and not collapse, thank you RR.

I hadn't noticed it before, but Akron went across the floor to locker rooms at half. Usually they go under the stands to a locker room on the home side. Do visiting teams now go somewhere else now?
