You’re probably right, but horrible no call letting ECU push Tyler down. Ref should be fired.
Looked like a push, but they're not going to make that call in that spot. This game was lost in a lot of other ways.

That’s why I’m not studying that play too much. Duren could have closed out the 3 pointer late in the game and possibly blocked the shot. Instead he gave a lazy lunge at the shooter and he drained it in his face. With a good close out it’s probably a miss or blocked shot…game over.
Blows my mind. To be so big and athletic only to not give your best WHEN THE GAME IS ON THE LINE. Many ways we lost the game, but that is the same sorry crap we’ve seen all year. Effort should never be an issue.

Let me say I am not saying that lost the game for us. There were a lot of things, but that is one of the a lot of things that was losing plays and an example of the little things that keep stacking up to cause games like this to go the way they have.
We should have been going to Duren the last half of the game and let him carry it home.

The entire team closed out last like this. It is as if they are coached to dare the other team to shoot threes.

it is rare fouls are called on 1 second plays. Harris has a tendency to slip and falls often.
As do all of the players. Penny has coached them to create chaos. They mostly create it for themselves.

Guarding a player that was 9 inches taller than he was. Was that the best that Penny could come up with?

RE: Another lose on Penny
Alot happened in that game.
No one is talking about the LQ charge instead of just pulling the ball back out with 2 or 3 min left in the game.
Minott jumping of the bench.
Tyler(!) missing his front end of a 1 and 1
Dandridge going inside 2 or 3 times and coming out with nothing.
All of it contributed, but yes Tyler was fouled, I don't care how small he is, but I think Minott would've been in the game had he not ran on to the court.
Sigh. On to SMU.

I wonder if Duren is anywhere near 100% yet from the hip injury. That, with the limited amount of players available tonight (and Minott being excused) may have led to Duren playing more than he was ready for. And of course, Malcom getting 4 fouls on him earlier in the 2nd half didn’t help matters either - even though he’s a turnover machine, he can at least eat a few minutes to give Duren a breather.
I don’t know, an odd - and frustrating - game all around….

How long before a decision is made on Penny? He cant be allowed to drag this on forever because he is the hometown hero. He boosted the program financially but soon the support will dwindle.

Gotta miraculously win the conference tourney at this point...any other expectations of getting a bid to the Big Dance are but a wistful mirage.

Memphis will never fire Penny
Penny will need to step down or take a pro job
Don't get lost in the financial aspect of it, the financial side got turned around but no where near what was thought.
We were at 5K season tickets at our lowest point w Josh and Tubby
With Penny we hit 9K
Our highest was 15K plus under Cal
We are way under what was planned when hiring Penny
With Penny coming in, all of the players, we are still at the same 9K...not 15K

They’ll be back to 5k season tickets soon if he is retained. I know that my 2 won’t be renewed if he’s the coach next year.

He is also one of the least sure footed.
Your only other option was Emoni, who is less sure-footed.

I will add at a little iver 2 minutes left, we scored to go up 70-60, we just jogged back allowed a long pass and fouled at the rim.
Unable to inbound ball with 1;30 left burning a TO.
Then, turning it over immediately after inbounds, then miraculously denying a basket to have Bates throw it away.
4-11 FTs.

It's easy to confuse the noun and verb forms of words, especially when they are spelled very similarly.
Loss is a noun that means "something that is lost, a detriment."
Lose is a verb that means "to come to be without something, to fail to retain."
