RE: 3 nba first round draft picks
Duren is by far the only first round pick on this team right now. I think in time Minott and Bates will get there but that's it. Maybe a team would take Bates late but tbh I don't get his appeal, even as a draft and hold prospect. He's not a consistent shooter, way too slight to be an effective slasher, and seems unathletic and stiff when handling the ball which means he can't create his own shot. He does seem to play hard and seems to really bother him that he's not playing better which I think is a positive.

I see Duren as a potential first round. No one else at this point. Just remember less than 3% of college players have an NBA career.

7 guys and no one who can break a team down off the bounce...
UCF played it right...Stay home...Don't help and make us score over them...We couldn't do it.
Tis what it Tis. Williams is the straw that stirs this drink.

I hope you’re correct about Williams. With basically 7 players — 3 freshmen and one 5-7 point guard who gets posted up almost ever trip down the court — it’s hard to win. Hopefully, they’ll get a few guys back for the ECU game.

Maybe the other teams are aware of this too and it inspires them to play harder?
I know I was reminded of it every time they made a 3.
I say support this team for who they are NOW and don't worry about if they
make the china league in the future.
Agree. I hope they all achieve their future goals (whatever they may be), but I’m only concerned with what happens here. I do get the draft pick thing and how it can help with future recruiting efforts, but I don’t recruit so not my problem.

Not sure Williams can even be successful consistently with everyone else standing around. We need some ball & player movement inside/outside to influence the defense.

True...
But Williams likely requires a team to help in the post.
If you have been instructed by your coach to stay with your man no matter what...Which is what UCF did most of the night...Cutting aint gonna help much.

You gotta understand how to use your talent...And it also helps when you have players who do different things well.
We got a bunch of long guys who cant dribble...

Both Bates and Minott have a lot of time to grow. Bates has a very pretty shot with a great shooter’s roll on the ball but he takes bad shots and is wildly inconsistent. That can be improved upon because the basics are there but it will take time.
Someone needs to be working 1:1 with Bates - he gets lost, takes bad shots (hero ball), sets terrible picks (I get he’s skinny but he sets picks a foot off his man at times) and more.

We only have 3 guys total who can penetrate into the lane consistently: DeAndre, Earl, and Tyler. I think Minott will be able to consistently as he gets older and more confident. But, I think it is a serious weakness in how our team is constructed even at full strength--especially considering our offense seems so dependent on dribble penetration. I tend to be jealous of every other team's offense that we play.

Bates' has a terrible basketball IQ. Duren has very high basketball IQ. Minott seems to always be in the right place at the right time; I don't know how good his BBall IQ is in all situations (against Cincy, he threw a mid-court outlet pass to Dandridge's back), but he has a real knack for the ball. I am dumbfounded over Bates in games, though.

Posts like this show just how removed from reality our fan base is.
Potential?
If the draft was tomorrow Duran is already a lottery pick according to almost everyone.

Once everyone figures it out, we are always successful with Williams. This has almost nothing to do with any other players.

Who is he?
And do you guys realize that Duren has not fully recovered from his hip injury?

Three first rounders and a roster full of 4-stars and 5-stars.
And, 9-6 against a mediocre schedule.

We have roster imbalance. Williams balances it. He is the one player we can't do without.
