UTA to the WAC

UTA going back to the WAC, although this time with more Texas teams in it.

Another shoe drops in the race to get to a new Sun Belt this summer.

Kick some WAC tail. Maybe you can play some FCS football over there.

Puts them back with quit a few old SLC mates from 8 years ago. Hopefully for the ones that are unhappy with the move can find peace, eventually.

Best of luck UTA fans, unless we are playing you. I hope you quickly get back to your ways of upsetting P5 teams.

03-puke My sincere condolences Mavs. While I wish you well, I can’t say or think WAC without throwing up in my mouth . . . just a little.

Why on Earth would anyone associated with UTA be “happy with this move?”

Would you be, if it were your school (honestly)?

Best of luck to UTA. I am going from memory and at my age that can be a very risky thing to do . . hahaha

As I recall, UTA helped the Southland Conference achieve D1 status back in the day when the UTA Mavericks still played Football. I also recall a win by UTA Football over Baylor when we were all in the SLC together. That was many Moons ago.

I know someone else talked about lipstick on a pig earlier... but I will give a tip of the cap to UTRGV. I have had my feelings too, but they are not as bad an entity as we may all recall from their old American South or Sun Belt days... or even more recently when they were Texas-Pan American.

A bit more competitive, more invested in their product and now with the support of the student body - adding football and women's swim/dive.

They’ve got quite the AD in Chasse Conque-good dude behind the scenes and able to do a lot with a little

Agreed. He has played a large part in the "cultural shift" behind the scenes and on the competition fields in the RGV.

And that he was able to succeed in bringing football forward, huge.

I appreciate all the kind words, The good folks on this board is one of the things I will miss most of the sunbelt.I of course hate leaving an excellent conference like the SBC, but I am very OK with going to the WAC. Lots of old rivals and looking forward to creating several new ones . I hope we schedule Noncon games in baseball and Bball with you guys. I also wish ya'll luck moving forward. I have no doubt this will continue to be a great conference

Right now, that’d be the only silver lining. At this point, I’d be happy to see a team play in the Pioneer League.

No way, but then South has been in the Sun Belt since it's inception and is one of it's founding members. The only conference that we've been in.
