Burger, I thought this might be the night you got that elusive whale. UTRGV played great.

I didn't know what to expect from RGV this season after Lew Hills death, players graduating, lots of new faces etc. I didn't expect much honestly. I thought you be struggling a lot more than you are.
But I have to say, Figger put together a pretty solid team in short order. He isn't taking the long, slow route to building a program. I'm impressed with him as a coach and recruiter. RGV has good days ahead.

RE: WAC MBB Week #9
Short version of UVU's win over Dixie this afternoon.
UVU took the lead early and stretched it to 20, 39-19. Dixie cut it to 14 by the half and scored the first 6 of the 2nd half, 46-38.
They played back and forth before UVU got it back to 15. Dixie cut into the lead, and got it down to 6 with under a minute left. 79-71 final.
Aimaq had 20 points and 17 rebounds in 27 minutes of play. Still leads the nation in double doubles.
Connor Harding had 14, and Tim Fuller continues to grow into his roll as a scorer with 12 on 6/9 shooting.
Frank Staine, Cameron Gooden and Isiah Pope all scored double figures for Dixie. Schofield had only 3 points, but Dancell Leter pulled down 7 rebounds.

Highlights from the CBU press release of their loss to Chicago State...
The Cougars led by as many as eight, 47-39, with 10 minutes to play but the Lancers fought all the way back and tied the game with a 17-9 run on Saturday at the Jones Convocation Center.
Ty Rowell looked to send the game into overtime when he scored five-straight points off consecutive inbounds plays to tie it at 56-56 with 15 seconds left. The Cougars' Brandon Betson dropped in the game winner with a floater in the lane with three seconds left to seal the win.

Love the competitiveness of the new WAC. It’s what I’d hoped for. But the reality is the WAC should win the most OOC games as possible and then the cream should rise to the top come WAC play. ACU wetting the bed. SFA losing to the Junior Aggies. That’s not gonna cut it.

This conference is so bad. Man, although the football is going to be D2 level at least CUSA is competent in basketball. SHSU being 3-1 in conference this far is embarrassing, they suck so bad. I see why NMST has won a ton recently, you don’t even have to be decent to beat schools like UTRGV or CBU or UVU. They’re ass.

RE: WAC MBB Week #9
After Saturday's activities...
New WAC NET...
75. New Mexico State... previously 85... up 10
83. Grand Canyon... previously 78... down 5
89. Utah Valley... previously 77... down 13
114. Abilene Christian... previously 90... down 24
133. Stephen F. Austin... previously 121... down 12
165. Tarleton State... previously 183... up 18
178. Seattle U.... previously 175... down 3
220. California Baptist... previously 174... down 46
251. Sam Houston State... previously 270... up 19
276. UT Rio Grande Valley... previously 273... down 3
295. Dixie State... previously 296... up 1
325. Chicago State... previously 338... up 13
344. Lamar... previously 343... down 1
It was not a good week for the WAC. Abilene Christian dropped two games at home; the Sam Houston State loss especially hurts their NET ranking and subsequently hurts Utah Valley who lost to ACU are week earlier. Cal Baptist's NET plummeted with their loss to Chicago State. It is not good when the NET rankings of the lower half of the WAC goes up and the top half goes down. Conference parity is only good when all teams in the conference have good NET rankings (in the top half, 175 or better); like in most P5 conferences. But it is bad for a mid-major conference when half the teams hover in the 200 and 300 range.

Nope, agree. ACU needs to put their big boy pants back on and move forward.

Who is NMST? Surprising that SHST is 3-1.

Just for that little remark, I was going to go to the GCU website and see if I could dig thru some history and come up with a good acronym based on something historical, rather the same old for profit quips.
But then I remembered the last time I clicked on their web page---by the time I found the athletics link, my phone had rung 3 times, I had 2 texts inviting me to apply, and my inbox was so full of information about the Data Analytics program it took me 15 minutes to delete them all. And I'll be damned if i know how they got my bosses cell phone number to ask if we had tuition reimbursement. Data Analytics indeed...So carry on with NMST if you will, I'll have no retort if it takes accepting more GCU cookies
