RE: OT: Positive COVID test
My wife had surgery on 12/17 so I worked from home the last 2 weeks of the year to help while she was recovering. We had no company and were basically isolated anyway. Now I am 1 of 3 people in the office this week. Everyone else either has Covid or is quarantining due to exposure. Still managing to dodge all the bullets here.

RE: OT: Positive COVID test
I swear about 2/3 of my immediate circle have omicron (about 1/2 tested positive, others just assume based on symptoms). Literally, for every one of them (some vaxxed, some not), it is like a decent cold. A scratchy throat, a cough, some night sweats, that's about it.

COVID seems to be playing out like previous pandemics (Black Plague, Spanish Flu, etc.) Several waves, with each successive wave more contagious, but less harmful.

Yep - I got it last week. This omicron thing seems ULTRA contagious. BUT, it has been at least relatively minor - thankful to have been protected to the extent that I have. It sure is lasting a long time.

RE: OT: Positive COVID test
Pretty sure it just ran through our house. Kids threw up for about 4 hours. 24 hours later they're fine. Wife had it then me. Suspect the 9 year old will get it tonight. It's either covid or just your run of the mill 24 hour stomach bug. But I'm not going to go sit for 8 hours at a doctors office for symptoms that blew through us in 24 hours and weren't terrible. Just going to lay low for a week or 2.

I am curious if can (or has anybody) gotten the corana twice or is it a one and done issue?

RE: OT: Positive COVID test
There is something else weird going around. I was not really sick, but super fatigued (nodding off at the computer and in the middle of conversations) and has daily moderate headaches from about 1PM until dinner over the holidays. No congestion. Never tested since I was home anyway and couldn't find any tests. My son got it yesterday... said he even fell asleep in class, partially lost taste and a little nausea and to go with it Tested he tested negative for Covid, flu, and strep, but not common cold symptoms either.

My mom was really sick a few weeks ago and my brother got sick as well. Both tested negative for COVID but I think my mom had bronchitis. My brother wasn't sure but didn't get re-tested after he felt better. A bunch of people I know are getting sick, COVID or otherwise

Sounds like a norovirus. My brothers fiancé and her daughter went through that this week and live in Richmond. My brother had Covid before XMas, vaccinated not boosted and he was definitely in the hurt locker for most of the week. Flu like symptoms but main complaint was severely sore throat. Dr called in some steroids, lidocaine and antibiotics after a few days and he turned around pretty quickly after that.

Office manager came in Monday coughing and sounding like ****, boss made her go home and get tested, came back positive today.

I feel like Neo dodging bullets in the Matrix trying not to get this ****.

If it keeps burning through the population as it is it could run its course by mid Feb. Fingers crossed. On the flip side there’s going to be a lot of school and business closures due to short staffed and hospitals will be stretched in the meantime.

Stay safe everyone.

As with all pandemics, a good chunk of people will likely never get it because they are immune for whatever reason (genetics?). I hope I fall in that category. I haven't really done anything to avoid it other than take the vaccine (that doesn't seem to work), have lived my life as normally as I could from day 1, and haven't so much as put on a mask since last May.

Ya, this didn't fit the common stories I've heard but it's not uncommon I read for covid to present as non-respiratory as purely gastro. And with the rate it's spreading, who knows. Could have been a norovirus, that makes a lot of since the way it worked through our house too.

I'm sure we'll see some of this, but I'm also sure because the omicron symptoms are nothing worse than a cold, we'll see plenty of places who will have staff that keep showing up to work without ever thinking about getting tested.

RE: OT: Positive COVID test
Wow, Norfolk Sentra last week had 200 patents emitted with COVID. They currently are over 600 patents with COVID, up 300% in a week. Omicron might be less to some, but others aren't doing as well. I think now we are under reporting bigtime. People, testing with at-home tests are not being reported. Sentra is saying don't come in for testing, unless you're in bad shape. Also saying if someone in your group tests positive and you have symptoms just figure you got it, no need to test. Maybe as fast as this spike went up, it will come down that fast.

If you choose not to wear a mask and you are asymptomatic, don't you run the risk of infecting others at work, the supermarket, etc.? I mean, what happens when you sneeze or even when you're speaking? If you are asymptomatic aren't you spreading the virus around and possibly infecting others in those instances?

Wife took our youngest in, thought she had a ear infection post illness. Nope, all good and there's definitely a stomach bug going around too he said.

Yes. Yes. And yes.

And so what’s your point? That we need to return to forced masking? I hope not.

Be aware that you are not going to again make me wear a mask, except when visiting my dad. Not by force. Not by fiat. Not by public shaming.

You are welcome to stay clear of my place of business. I promise that I will not follow you around the supermarket. And I will respect your desire for social distancing.

Can I expect a corresponding level of respect?
