Some of you old guys remember in the olden days JMU would pay Home Team Sports $5,000 to broadcast games on their network.
Is it $1 million per year or $1 million over 4 years? I think the latter b it could be misremembering

Was reported as $4.5 mil over 4 years. And I think it was boosted this year, but I'd bet a good part of that is tied to subscriber/performance numbers and there are likely membership clauses in the contract also. I'd bet they make substantially less going forward.

That's interesting. So perhaps since the CAA is screwing us out of getting a minimum amount of CBS Sports games, perhaps we have a chance at getting some of that money on the rights fees returned to us. I doubt it, but it definitely made me wonder.

Obviously a CAA with no JMU will have less to negotiate with in future contracts.

RE: Flo Sports
So maybe it is the lower number that is distributed to schools? Most money goes to CBSsports and a little pocket change to the schools?
Will be interesting to see what JMU gets out of the Sun Belt ESPN deal. Certainly more than Flo, but maybe a phase in during the transition before full media payouts.

Yes, think I had seen it was around $70k per school with Flo each year with almost all of that going to buy CBS SN games. So, yes, pocket change was distributed. And if JMU was 35-50% of subscribers as reported, you can bet that will drop. Maybe soon if the contract is renegotiable based on membership changes or subscriber performance.
Even with a phase in, the SBC media money will be massively more for JMU. And that doesn't include improved guarantee game payments, likely improved sponsorship deals, contributions, etc.
For JMU, it will be light years better than the CAA was.

Flo deserves to die. The CAA saddled JMU with that albatross of a media company, and the CAA deserves to suffer along with Flo. Good riddance to both.

RE: Flo Sports
So what is the game plan?
I cancelled my annual sub. Do we now go month to month through Feb or March?
I don't feel like starting a monthly Flo sub tonight to watch EMU.
I guess I'll start it the next home game following the UVA game.

I cancelled my annual plan a few weeks ago, it said I still had access for the remainder of the year. I haven't tried to confirm if it actually works though.

Ive been holding off, but should be able to get Flo monthly for $12.50 thru the CAA plan if you sign up under a new email.
Also waiting till after UVA to figure it out.

RE: Flo Sports
My annual subscription expired on 11/22 and I had gone through the process to cancel the renewal since I won't give that POS platform another dime. I received and email today that payment was not successful. Thank god the card they had has expired.

Yep - same with me. I think I received 3 messages. Finally responded to it and then got the following message -

Wow , did you get the cancellation email or special renewal offers from Flo when you canceled?
I think there was a multi-step cancelation where there was a small button on the last page to confirm cancellation. These companies never make it obvious/easy. I got a "FloSports Cancellation Confirmation" email the same day.

RE: Flo Sports
An MTSU fan on CUSA boards is saying "FloSports will have a bigger presence in our next media deal"
Seems Flo won't die and keeps going after the table scraps of college sports
Just hope we don't play too many CUSA schools if this is the case. I don't intend to ever subscribe to this crap show again.

Wow. Just wow.
Imagine leaving the CAA and going to CUSA back into Flo. The level of hate would be through the roof right now.
If Flo is the best that CUSA can do, they truly are in far worse trouble.
If true, I have to imagine Liberty is going to have to lose showing sports on their own channel (ala what Flo did to Madizone).

I can't imagine Liberty or any program with their own broadcasting channel would say anything besides, "hells no" to being told they can't produce their own sporting events

Guess that depends how much influence all that money bought them in CUSA.
If Judy and the other schools are desperate enough for Flo cash, the deal might happen anyways. Just like Flo got shoved down JMU's throat despite objections. Every AD gets a vote, and Judy is a proven idiot like Joey.
Thank goodness we get to watch this trainwreck unfold from the sidelines.

RE: Flo Sports
I'm still shocked that Liberty chose CUSA. They would have been so much better off continuing indy. They had a decent season with Syracuse, Ole Miss, Army, ODU, and Louisiana on the schedule and enjoyed blowing out Eastern Michigan 56-20 in their bowl game. They threw all of that away to play in the CUSA sh!tshow and FloSports? LOL! Really? Bizarre! They would have been better off in ODAC!
