I'm impressed with his resume. Looks like he could be a good one.

IF the president lets him do his job.

Highlights taken from his bio on OSU's website.

At Oregon State for 4.5 years. At Pitt for 15 years.

Executive Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer at Oregon State.

At OSU:
- Chief Operating Officer for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
- Led OSU's sports supervisory team, where he also served as sport supervisor for the football and wrestling programs.
- Served as the lead of the internal operations unit, providing leadership, planning and supervision in the areas of Capital Projects, Facility Operations, and Event Management.
- Recently led in the development and execution of the department’s facility master plan initiatives, developing appropriate funding models and assisting with fundraising initiatives relevant to certain special projects.
- He also participates as part of the executive staff and provides leadership in the development and execution of the OSU athletic department’s strategic plan.

At Pitt:
- Had oversight of the NCAA compliance office, sport administration team, facilities planning and event operations, and student-athlete development.
- Was the sports supervisor for the Panthers’ football and men’s basketball teams.
- Managed and directed the athletic department’s strategic planning process that led to a redesigned departmental mission and vision, as well as a detailed five-year plan for success.

He also served as the president of the National Association for Athletics Compliance in 2015-16

Initial reaction: pretty good resume. Experience at P5 schools, but not the bluebloods that have unlimited resources. Experience overseeing football and basketball programs. Experience navigating the NCAA. Has done operations, capital projects, fundraising. Has been at 2 schools over the past 20 years, stability.

I don't know anything about him personally, but it seems like about as good of a hire as we could expect right now, considering the ever-tightening budget.

I like his experience with facilities planning. A new basketball/hockey arena would be a great addition to the makeover of Hilltop Village. I'm thinking the parking lot adjacent to the track across the street from the rec center. Everything being built there is a public/private partnership so this could be done the same way.

RE: Next WMU AD should be?
I had it all wrong. I figured WMU would hire one of their internal ‘woke’ candidates.

I would have connected the hire to Montgomery/Obama/Oregon State…but Oregon State broke ties with the former president’s BIL sometime ago.

Looks like a solid hire. Hopefully he cleans house and rids WMU of the deadwood that has been allowed to remain in place.

RE: Next WMU AD should be?
I would of cried if Montgomery hired Jackson over the other two finalists.

As an AD, who maybe hasn't experienced college hockey, I think he will get real excited about the program after seeing the upcoming NCHC road and home games at Lawson. Hope Bartholomae can make the road trips to CC, Duluth, SCSU, Sioux and Frozen Four in St. Paul to get a quick education on what big time college hockey is all about. Our #4 team in the country will be playing 1-gm vs #3, 4 gms vs #5, 2 gms vs #6, 2 gms vs #7 and 2 gms vs #8 before playoffs even start. How could he not get excited about the program after seeing all these games?

Fersh better extend an invitation, as this might be his most important recruit of his college coaching career.

RE: Next WMU AD should be?
Graduate of Indiana - is he from Indiana?
After he gets settled in and gets a feel for WMU (maybe this spring) I would love to see an in depth interview with him. I doubt the local media would be interested but maybe a sit down with Robin Hook could be done and posted on YouTube. He'll probably have a press conference but we won't hear anything more than He's happy to be here, he's looking to continue WMU's great tradition of...

"Woke" "Obama"

My dude, I think you got lost on the way to logging into Parler or Gettr or whatever corner of the internet people are still mumbling about "Killary" and "Brandon"

I'm excited for this hire. I hope he excels at making the department his.

I'm also just really relieved KB didn't slide Lester an extension on her way out the door.

Love the hire! I don't see any red flags in his bio. Some hockey background would've been nice b/c of its uniqueness, but this is on paper a very qualified candidate.

Only thing I find odd is we're slashing budgets everywhere but are able to lure away someone who seemed decently high up the ladder at a Power 5? Doesn't make sense.

I agree but people are desperate to be ADs.

His background seems solid. I'm interested in seeing what he does once he gets here and figures out what is happening at WMU.

Glad we didn't just get another internal hire. Get some fresh eyes and perspective on our issues.

Good luck!
