ChicagoDuke must be trying to spread some disinfo about the JMU OL on there, calling them undersized (the JMU OL that started vs SELA avg about 6'4"/312)..

FWIW with some quick napkin math:
6 games with Fornadel JMU scored 311 points/51.8 ppg
6 games without Fornadel JMU scored 183points/30.5 ppg
Now I'm not going to claim he's worth 21 points a game, as a lot of that had to do with tougher SOS in the games he missed, but damn if he's not worth at least 7, probably more..

I remember watching in 2008 as Rodney Landers laid on the ground, well after the whistle, with Griz players still piling on, twisting his limbs and punching him in the ribs and elsewhere, and never a penalty called by the zebras, all in an attempt to get Rodney out of the game, which they eventually accomplished, winning the game.
Look for more of the same from the dirtiest players in college football. If the refs don't call it, we will lose again. If they do call the Griz on their garbage, Dukes win by 30.
Looking at the EWU/Montana game, one has to wonder what happened. EWU rolled up 608 yards of total offense on the Griz, 530 yards of that in the air for 5 touchdowns, versus 368 yards of total offense by the Griz who run better than they pass (nearly 6 yards per tote vs 48% completion rate).
So, the Griz are not quite one-dimensional, but they aren't exactly great in the passing game, either, and, as you may have heard, JMU has the best run defense in the country. Thus, I see the Griz having a rough go of it in a clean game. Without question, they are going to try to take Cole out of the game. If they succeed, we lose. If they fail, we win. It is that simple. We have too many weapons. They can't stop us in a clean game.
Clean game....
Dawgs 47
Bears 17
Dirty game....
Bears 24
Dawgs 20
I remember that exact play. Montana wrecked Landers. Montana plays dirty under this coach. JMU is also dependent on Johnson. NDSU is the same. The good guys need to be prepared.
Yes, that's all I'm saying.

I love this narrative i keep reading from Griz fans on their board that "we have played a soft schedule"
Meanwhile, look at Montana's wins:
Dixie St 1-10
Western Illinois 2-9
Cal Poly 2-9
Idaho 4-7
Southern Utah 1-10
No Colorado 3-8
No Arizona 5-6
Eastern Washington (split with them during the year, each winning at home. The same EWU who lost to Weber team we destroyed)
They beat Washington, yea ! good for them. A mediocre P5 that couldn't wait to fire their coach. They had 232 yards in that game and won the turnover battle 3-0. It isn't like they blew the doors off a very average UDub.
then they beat Montana State at home. Their rival. Is Montana State really any good? MSU's wins:
Drake 2-8 (non scholly)
San Diego 7-4 (non scholly)
Portland St 5-6
No Colorado 3-8
Cal Poly 2-9
Weber 6-5 (beat them 13-7 at Weber. We beat Weber 37-24 and it wasn't that close. was 37-10 deep in the fourth qtr)
Idaho St 1-10
Eastern Washington 10-3 (nice win! but EWU also lost to Weber. Who we destroyed)
Idaho 4-7
UT Martin ( are they better than SELA? Doubt it)
so Montana is hanging there hat on splitting with EWU, a team that lost to a team we destroyed, And beating an overrated Montana State club. And an average P5 that they didn't exactly look like world beaters in.

We are the higher seed.
Our overall resume is better
Our recent history is MUCH better
We are playing at home.
All signs point to us winning. A loss would be a decent sized upset.

So many hits in the Montana EWU game was very aggressive and through/after the whistle. If the refs don't call it you are playing physical and on the edge. It felt borderline dirty watching however. It definitely has an impact on the game. In this game it was clearly an emphasis in the finesse vs physical matchup. EWU was throwing it all around the field easily in the 1H for like 300 yards but eventually they blocked a punt and wore EWU's QB down. He was holding his ribs and limping a ton of the 2H.

This all comes with fast and physical defenses which both JMU and Montana have. It's going to be fun to watch some hitting this weekend
Just got thru re-watching the EWU-Montana game.
Both teams seemed somewhat chippy when they were on defense. The Montana defenders were constantly talking to EWU QB Barriere after plays were over. Not sure if it's because they're familiar with one another having played earlier in the season and having a rivalry or if they were trying to get into his head.
The Montana D did hit the EWU QB Barriere a couple of times late. In fact one of the hits that drew a personal foul late hit midway thru the 3rd Quarter had Barriere could up a little sore and gimpy when EWU pulled within 2 points at 30-28.
In the 1st quarter I noticed a couple of Montana defenders nail the EWU TE when he missed a catch on the sidelines.
Not going to the extremes that Purple noted from previous Montana teams that our Dukes have played in Chattanooga and Bridgeforth but you can bet they're going to push the limits this coming Friday night and our young (or old/veteran) O Linemen can't lose their cool causing drives to end when they shove a Montana defensive lineman after a play because we were provoked.
On defense we can't afford to prolong a Montana drive by hitting one of their guys late. Anxious to see which FCS Conference provides their refs this week for our game. Maybe SoCon or MVC. Seems like targeting has become an issue in almost everyone of our playoff games of late with it being called on one of our guys.
#18 Akem for Montana is a tall WR much like the Campbell WR that caused us problems when we played them. I think Akem is probably faster than the Campbell WR. Our DBs seemed to do a good job containing SELA's RBs/WRs last weekend thanks in part to the pressure the D Line put on Cole Kelley.
I'm sure Cig has already cautioned the team about not continuing plays after the whistle or the perception that Montana might push the limits on late hits.
Not to get off topic but speaking of that Campbell WR that gave us issues. He just entered the transfer portal and Cig extended him an offer.

Cig seems to really be going for height- can always coach them up and add weight. At DB we need height fast or we will get smoked in FBS

I agree, clearly if anything we probably need Corners more than anything but to pair him, Wells, and Thornton together would be a dream for whoever our next signal caller is.

Are you sure you're not thinking about WatchESPN/ESPN3? ESPN+ is only valid for ESPN+ games/productions. The ESPN apps will always have every Disney-network game, but to my knowledge to access any of the bigger-network games, you have to have a full ESPN subscription.

Was hoping that was right, but I double checked my ESPN+ account and it's not on the schedule for plus nor do I see any of the big channel programming on there.
I guess we'll see, but I'm going to have a backup plan.

I think it is safe to say the hoops win over UVA tonight will help attendance at the football game. They were marketing it some during media timeouts and the euphoria of the win should get some people motivated if they were on the fence.
Plus more fans should stay the weekend and catch the hoops team vs Radford Saturday night after attending the football game vs Montana.
A rising tide lifts all boats.
