Jason Munz reported that Penny was asked if Memphis players might be transferring at the semester break.

Penny answered, "I'm not sure."

Being a great player doesn’t always (rarely, actually) translate into being a great coach. Completely different skill sets are needed.

I will never stop supporting the program, but if he encourages Lester Q. and Nolley to transfer at the break then I'm simply not interested in watching anymore this season.

I know how you feel. Lester is still one of my faves on this team.

There was no big improvement today, only more of the same crap & excuses. And throwing the vets under the bus who have proven themselves will only encourage more dissention & team disintegration.

On all honesty, most truly great players are poor coaches, particularly on the college level. They see things others don’t… the game comes to them naturally & can be difficult & exasperating to explain to those who aren’t as gifted or simply so not have the same level of intensity.

Those guys are here to win now… not to mentor Emoni as he cost them their opportunity to play in the postseason. Emoni is clearly not ready to play D1 basketball.

True, and he shouldn't be expected to be at this point. Recall Derrick Rose's first 10 or 12 games.

Yep that's the coach's job.

Emoni is no where near where Derrick was as a freshman. Physically, Derrick was a beast & the obvious missing piece to an elite 8 squad.

Emoni plays the same position as Lester & Landers & is physically immature. The kid needs to live in the weight room for the next year… but, good grief, he’s only 17.

RE: Postgame
1) Not starting Lester early in the season
2) Minutes for Penny's aau team and son
3) DeAndre, Landers not getting what they had last year
4) New guys getting NIL money
5) Proclaiming Bates the PG before he came to campus
6) Other freshman being told they had to earn their playing time - they believe they outperformed the aau guys but are still red-shirted or not playing one single minute

fast forward, blaming the older players for not mentoring the younger players

That is one strategy you could take
