I need some coping mechanisms. We’ve never had a HC leave for a better program….not sure what to do. 03-hissyfit03-weeping

Kinda keep up with that team. Not watch their games, but check their scores and hope he does well.

Download flight tracker and see who is traveling where. /s

Seriously, good luck on your next coach.

Haha yeah I’m not even upset. I would have lost it if he went to LSU though.

I think Napier will do great at Florida, they need a cultural change there. He will be alright, but he won’t get the leash that he had here.

There were App fans ready to toss the golden child Satterfield out with yesterday's trash when it looked like it could be a possibility he get the UNC job.

But this is where your admin have a decision to make. Do you try to start the Napier coaching tree? Get one of his coordinators like the DC? $1.5 million could keep him and probably keep a solid tradition to grow.

Pete Golding is the #1 target Right now. He’s from Louisiana, young and off of the Saban tree.

That would be a excellent hire.

Interesting- he coached DBs for Todd Monken at USM in 2014-15. He moved to UTSA when he was not retained by Hopson.

I remember being really frustrated when Sat left. I was fine when Drink left he always came across as cocky so it didn’t bother me as Bad. I was one of the ones skeptical about Clark but I knew he had Apps best interest. Our AD’s have always given me sense of security so I wasn’t worried. I don’t know much about your AD but it seems you guys are in good hands.

Losing your HC to a P5 like Florida will tag Louisiana as a destination school for the young up and coming Coaches. Smile big, take the Buyout money, and enjoy all the attention Louisiana will get nationally. All that free publicity is priceless. Go Louisiana . . Go SBC !!

There may be some Georgia Southern fans old enough to provide
some advice as well. They’d have to be in their 40’s or older.

You’ll get a ton of free publicity. Mentions from pundits on ESPN all off season.

Just whatever your administration does next, do not hire an E0-12 type of person!

Two things: 1) Pray your admin is smart enough to stick with what works and not shift toward another hiring philosophy, and 2) Hope you’re going to be doing again in 4-5 years.

Oh, and a third thing: If your university president is the only admin to speak at the new coach’s intro presser, riot immediately.

Yep. He seems the best fit right now.

But you know what is the best feeling in the world? Knowing that Dr Maggard is running the show.

That and I have verified from two separate sources we offered Napier $3.2M to stay. The money is there to support a winner, just have to hire the right guy.

RE: App St & stAte fans help
On the bright side, you’re losing a coach that is being promoted, not fired. So it’s not like he’s leaving you a garbage heap for the next HC to fix. The next coach is being given the proverbial keys to a Ferrari so you should have your choice of good candidates which have been successful at their current gigs. So I’m pretty sure you can be choosy on who you want to take over a nationally ranked team over say a team that’s 1-9 or 2-8.

So the worries of a rebuild shouldn’t be there like it is for a team like Troy or Georgia Southern, So that should make you feel somewhat comforting. Drink did well when Satterfield went to Louisville and Clark has done well after Drink left. So hopefully the Cajuns will have the same level of continued success. It is now expected…and the way the West is currently, taking the team to the conference championship is not an unreasonable request.

You should be fine.
