Not sure. I can’t speak for college campuses. I can speak for military bases. They always have camper parks for visitors. I imagine if people could come and camp it would open new opportunities for sporting event attendance.

Did you know there is an alumni group that regularly conducts prayer walks around campus. That is great. We need more of that.

It would be interesting if they established a camping spot with a building notifying that area down on the east side. There's just a lot of parking areas that can be building up for something like this along with academic buildings and dorms. Why stay restrain the student population if more people want to come here. Give them (students/visitors) more opportunity to come have a campus community like we should be doing as followers of Christ. Good idea guys!

Build a state of the art smaller intimate outdoor amphtheater into the side of a mountain for outdoor theater productions and student bands to play music at.

If you guess do not listen to the Flames Central Podcast, I'd suggest listen to the last podcast with Coach Dot. This is the mindset of the athletic department and I'm interested in what steps they will take as realignment is heavily discussed these days:

I'll include a golf lab for the men's and hopefully women's program. I'll even consider building a building for Hall of Famersthat will express the beauty of our campus, athletic and LU community.

I think my focus would be the "big picture".

Students and employees are free to support any political candidate or issue consistent with the university's christian mission, the administration as an organization should seek to keep politics at arms length and reassert its spiritual mission.

The university ought to have a spiritual leader who is separate from the people who manage the day to day affairs and the money strictly accounted for.

This is great news. Good for the city of Lynchburg and LU. It will bring more tourism and business to the community. It will farther the reach of the school academically and athletically.

I don’t know if there is a land constraint holding the project to 31 acres. I am thankful for that much, but wouldn’t mind seeing 60-100 acres.

I was recently at a 35 acre lake, and it wasn’t ad big as I pictured.

All in all. This is a great project and food move by LU.

For anyone that said something about being on tv.

“ As part of this new agreement, all Liberty home football games will air on an ESPN platform while guaranteeing that one game each year will air on an ESPN linear network (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, etc.). ESPN also has the right to choose to air a second Liberty home football game on a non-traditional day (non-Saturday) while all other remaining home games will be distributed on an ESPN digital platform (ESPN3, ESPN+, etc.).”

I like that we'll have one or more games on a traditional channel, though I expect ESPNews instead of ESPN. I don't care for the non-Saturday game. Hopefully it's just the opening weekend because Friday games hurt recruiting, Sunday games no one will watch with the NFL on, and Thursday games are saturated now too. Tuesday and Wednesday nights are awful with the MAC and Monday also competes with the NFL.

I hope we are getting paid well because I think it was a real positive to have our games broadcast at the same time each Saturday.

Architecture degrees.

That’s the only thing keeping my youngest son from wanting to go to Liberty.

RE: If you were in charge?
I'm all for adding hockey and gymnastics. Both are sports that have a hardcore following, can create revenue and don't really require more facilities than what we already have. Our hockey team does about as well in attendance as the basketball program and there are several programs in the country that get solid attendance for gymnastics. It also helps that there are 62 gymnastics teams, 36 teams make the post season and the postseason is televised on ABC/espn. Meaning Liberty would have a good chance of getting on national tv every year and spreading the brand to a completely different demographic than they normally do with football and basketball.

The arena is a perfect size for a sport like gymnastics and our hockey arena is an adequate size for D1 although I'm sure it could use an upgrade if we were to move up. As for the other sports, none of them really add anything although most of them are relatively cheap so they don't really take much resources from other teams.

RE: If you were in charge?
Late to respond about this, but finally they're continuing the process of finishing phase one in the master plan by building commons IV(as well with adding a parking garage connected to the LIC). It is about time, but they need to do much more. I truly hope the independent firm finding the next leadership will find the right leadership for the future of LU soon. We really need people who wants to grow the school and committed to the region/alumni. Our faculty and staff need to be treated much better than how they are treated presently also. I can't believe the interim president have been more focused on his travels than getting the research/studies to make the school reach R2 clarification in the Carnegie classification. Hoping this will come together by next fall Lord willing. Going back to the LIC and the future of the LIC garage, is it possible the they're planning to expand the center as well? Maybe pushing to do a more realistic study of taking the ice hockey programs to the next level? Just speculating, but I don't think LU wants to remain the little guy for another decade plus.

Liberty needs to add a women's golf, water polo and gymnastics to the NCAA level. That could help give the opportunity for men's hockey and lacrosse to make it to D1. Those two are quite expensive, but they said they wanted to be the likes of a Note Dame, UVA, Georgetown, Harvard etc. (According to their master plan manual in the 2010's). These would give us a boost in respect in the blue class circles of the east coast in my opinion. Think that's crazy? Look at field hockey; we have received respect in that circle. We have the facilities for such programs and could upgrade some fields (for lacrosse and field hockey). I was thinking they continue the idea of Williams stadium; have an outer core of a Jeffersonian style with that beautiful view of the Blue Ridge mountains. The seat count can be about 2500-3000 for each hockey and lacrosse. A lot of people go to the men's lacrosse game than the ladies, and their program is NCAA D1. Am I saying we can negotiate some of those programs to be affiliated in the Big East? Maybe. I think we've given them an impression that we can play with the top schools and are committed to our student athletes, so why not?
