If you were in charge?
If you were in charge of Liberty what would you like to see changed? Less politics, more politics, alcohol at events, more/less online presence, etc. What would you like to see changed if you could make any changes you wanted?

RE: If you were in charge?
- I would maybe change to a lighter shade of blue.
- I would put a big fountain on campus.
- I would add several large statues on campus.
- I would bring in a live eagle mascot to compliment Sparky.
- I would expand the Trade degree programs offered.
- I would add Agriculture, Conservation and forestry programs.
- I would add to research funding.
- I would increase the ROTC program.
- I would add several NCAA sports.
- I would try try to nationally expand the LU brand athletically.
- I would add to and enhance the Theater Arts programs..... develop, create and produce TV shows, documentaries, movies, on a LU broadcasting station.
- I would use my team entrance idea for an ultimately iconic team entrance for football and basketball.
- I would expand the selection of LU team gear and apparel.
- I would continue to aim for a goal of 20,000 on campus students.
- I would build Spirit of the Mountain marching band in numbers, have greater role for them, and demand greater performaces.
- I would build a family LU campground.
- I would bring a Sight & Sound Theater to Lynchburg.
- I would open an LU themed sports restaraunt near campus.
- I would partner with Answers in Genesis and Institute of Creation Research to expand scientific studies.
- I would develop more housing options for students.

This. Build the non-football sports (particularly basketball) to the point that LU can make a case to be added to a basketball conference like the A10 or BE.

Football is on the right track. Keep up scheduling P5's and hire a P5 level coaching staff. That should keep LU continually going to bowl games.

One more point about nationally expanding the LU athletic brand. Keep enrollment at around 100K between online and on-campus. That will make the alumni base grow rapidly and help expand the LU brand nationally. Strength in numbers.

RE: If you were in charge?
If I were in charge, I'd walk back from the political scene. I wouldn't compromise Biblical beliefs but I wouldn't push my way into politics and have a passive approach.

I'd reaffirm the commitment to Biblical teachings, specifically a young-Earth creation. I would teach other beliefs as a way to prepare students for what the world expects from a typical college graduate.

I wouldn't reduce the online presence but I'd focus on increasing the on-campus enrollment. Traditional students are shown the have the strongest and most lasting connection with their school and increasing our enrollment further can only bring better returns.

I would focus on increasing the programs offered, both undergraduate and graduate programs. I think it is important to provide just about anything a potential student would want to major in. This ties into increasing enrollment.

I'd try to increase the research done at LU. The most prestigious universities are awarded the most researching dollars and improving Liberty's research capabilities would help us be taken more seriously as an academic school. Likewise, I'd try to improve our academic standing in such places like US News, Forbes, etc.

I would want to find a better home for our non-football sports. I would try to make as many connections with other school presidents as I could to win them over. I wouldn't settle for a G5 conference but the AAC would be tempting. I would put every effort into getting into a P5 conference as LU has much work to get caught up on that other schools have had decades to be ahead of LU.

I saw that LU is building a state of the art School of Engineering and are hiring a renowned Dean to head it up. Great move!

I’d still like to see a few of the programs I have listed above to be developed.

- I would start GameOnPlus to highlight club sports and intramural championships at LU.

Game On is such a well produced professional show.

That’s actually an interesting idea; it would be nice to have our own type of sports center channel that fans/supporters can watch daily.

Are you aware that the Big East is heavily populated and influenced by urban catholic schools?

Yep. We are already a member of the Big East. So there’s that.

RE: If you were in charge?
That parking garage they are building on campus is such a welcomed addition. I was just at LU this week. Though the campus is beautiful, it will run out of space soon. It is locked between Wards Rd. and HWY 460. I imagine all future expansion will have to start moving into the hills, as seen by east campus and the med school.

RE: If you were in charge?
If I was in charge, I would promote and put more money into academia. I would put as much money as I can in research and expand my top schools in the university. I would also like research to be done to establish a school of architecture and agriculture. It would be beneficial for the university’s prestige but also for the surrounding city/counties development. With that being said, that would help spread the gospel locally(even more on a bigger platform), help build industry and economics in the area and of course expand/grow athletics plus local festivities(commercial, etc.). I would go less political because that in itself is causing a huge division to the masses in which those in power want. What matters is people and growth, not party you affiliate with. I want people who want to succeed and not those who want to deceive for their own gain.

I am SO on board with that, particularly agriculture.
I did a little digging (every pun intended) and there are 18 colleges in VA that offer Ag degrees. The two biggest are VT and Va St. The others are smaller name schools. I think Liberty would be well suited to develop an Ag program.

I imagine agriculture would be hard to transition into an online degree. Because of that, they may not try to offer it with so many of our students online.

I was hoping this to be a residential option and also for those who may be doing online but live near the university. But I was more stating this as a primary residential major.

I’d like to see more out of the academia side. Stricter requirements for online programs to be more selective. Get away from the political stuff.

Politics will always be involve in academia. It’s only been so exposed is because the media is one sided and their ideal candidate isn’t in power. Our school have always been involved with politics and our President is a lawyer. So we need to get used to the demonization from media platforms because it will continue to happen unfortunately.

There is a difference between being involved with politics and just teaching conservative values. Does Jerry Jr. need to be involved with President Trump's administration? Does he need to speak/tweet/etc. on so many political issues? I don't see the benefit to LU when he does that. Yes, the media is primarily left-leaning but we open ourselves up for these attacks by getting involved in the first place. Let me reiterate that this does not mean we change our conservative values.

And I understand that we are about the only school to stand up for conservative values while everyone else is encouraging anti-Trump rallies, cancelling any conservative speaker due to protests, promoting inclusivity of everyone, etc. I'm sure Liberty feels like they need to carry the conservative banner and fight against all the anti-conservatives out there. If the fight wasn't so lopsided, I don't know that Liberty would be so outspoken as there would be many more already doing the work.

I’m seeing your point but you have to understand that the same problem would occur if Jerr Sr. was around today. The issue is that the Democratic platform has changed to a radical identity/emotional politics(clearly many of them have read Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky. Falwell has the right to do whatever he feels he needs to do to get involve in the path that he supports and the candidate, just like most presidents from other schools. The thing is that he’s getting so much backlash just because the opposition idea is to go on a full attack on Trump and anyone who’s affiliates with I’m just so their dirt would not be focused on. Everything they accuse on Trump comes right back to bite them because they are dirty. It’s funny that people who are affiliated with the school are ashamed or don’t like what Falwell because they themselves don’t like Trump. It’s not hard to not get involve; these media and other agents have been demonizing Liberty before Trump even cane into office, so why all of a sudden they don’t want any part with LU? So what’s really the issue here? Nothing has change except some new faces who are part of the two groups bickering against each other so that the masses can remain divided. The real issues no one care about so who cares what other people think? Folks are mad their loving saint madame Clinton didn’t get in. With the dirt and skeletons she has on her for decades, I’m shocked that folks even care what that side is even screaming about. With all of them (the majority of media, entertainers and all the other wolves in sheep clothing) criticizing, deceiving and indoctrinating at our school, it shows that at least there’s still some moral(s) left about the institution and leaders even if every decision is not agreed upon. That’s just my two cents if it even makes sense.

The real issue isn’t Falwell and Trump; that’s just another thing to put on their anti-Jesus enemy hit list. The true issue is that some in power (politics, technology, education, etc.) do not like that a school still maintains Biblical values and have not given in like many other big known Christian based schools(Harvard, Stanford, etc) who have turned from Jesus to the religion of science/western esotericism. So I may not agree with Falwell politics(don’t agree with most politics nowadays anymore anyways), but I will stand with him to keep Christian values in the school and hopefully what’s left in this nation.
