You should always be more worried about the game ahead of you. ECU has a good squad and a loud crowd. They'll give you a better test then SMU did today.
UC just held the 7th best QB in passing yards (2nd in TD’s) to 66 yards yards passing on 2.5 yards a catch.
They play like that, they are going to beat most anyone.
That’s likely the worst game of his career

Impressive result no doubt but that result has 'coach is leaving' written all over it. Could be wrong and maybe yall just found another gear but I'd be shocked if that wasn't at least a part of it.

You’re right. Sonny Dykes told his players at 3:29pm today, “I’m leaving. Now go out and stink up the place and embarrass me.” Lol.
SMU lucky the score was as close as minus 35.

That would have been the result had he just signed an extension. That’s just what SMU does on the road.

SMU has looked pretty good on the road. Like I say could be wrong but I've seen this sort of thing time and time again. Coach has a foot out the door and starts to slack on the preparation. Makes plenty of sense.

Say what you want but he's an excellent recruiter and he managed to bring SMU back from the death penalty. He's a good coach.

The “death penalty” was what—35 years ago? Don’t see how ‘ol Sonny, who has a lifetime coaching record barely over .500 is some sort of savior. How many coaches has SMU had since the 1980’s?

They've had 6 and your lack of appreciation for the job Dykes has done at SMU just shows your ignorance of what that program went through because of the death penalty. As for his HC record, he's 60-36 after his first year with a program. He's a good coach. Not saying he's Saban or anything like that but he's much better than what some of yall seem to think.

Luckily TCU is paying us a lot of money to hire him away and we can get a coach we need.

Sonny is an above average coach and he'd be smart to stay at smu. I thought he'd be over the p5 thing by now.. smu will probably be one of the teams constantly in the running for the NY6 if he sticks around

Tcu is doing us a favor and overpaying for him. He will join Chad coaching high school ball in a few years. His staff will not be following him and are headed elsewhere.

He wasn't great at Cal. Big whoop, no one does well at Cal. Hardly a reason to turn down a big contract if another P5 position comes open.

Finding the first replacement coach after you get back on the map is easy. What gets hard is having to find a quality replacement every 2-4 years. Eventually everyone lands a dud. BOL

I think if UC wins next, then I think they roll Houston. If they lose at ECU, then I think Houston wins the following week.
I just believe in “follow the money” too much. I can’t imagine the AAC pooping away the playoff money and possibly the NY6 money too.
If they lose at ECU, they’d probably be devastated and have a incurable hangover.
Just my tin foil hat thoughts.
Edit: I forgot BYU doesn’t have access to the NY6 bowl. Houston probably grabs that with a win.

heres the thing.. houston is fools gold... but my silver linning is so is cincy... cincy will get killed even if they made the playoff..
houston offense has fools gold parts... so does cincy offense...
i think if anyone can beat cincy its houston, not on some fact that i think houston is some monster..but just on matchup...cincy has struggled badly with any team that has any heartbeat of a defense
theyve killed the offensive teams (with weak defenses).. we arent that we fit the profile of their weakness
This is such a lame take from a complete homer. UH is no where near the offense that UC is. Tune vs Ridder? Laugh My Fawking Azz Off. No one knows how good Houstons defense is because they have played no one. SMU lit your azz up, USF scored at will, and a crappy Tech team destroyed you. GTFO with your weak azz takes.
love the overconfident takes from uc fans.... reminds me of 12-0 houiston team, that completely overlooked a ranked usm in the ccg because we looked down on them and were already planning our ny6 in 2011
life hit us fast that year... good times
and sidenote: your right Houston hasnt played any legit offenses, and still wont after we played cincy
another side note: usf had 2 return tds...usf scored the same amount of offensive touchdowns on houston as it did on cincy
Comparing yourself to USM is the best self own I’ve seen in a while.

You couldn't beat TT on a neutral field. We beat ND at South Bend. Whether or not Cincy can win in the CFP is another argument.
Notre Dame wasn't playing good early in the season. They almost lost to Toledo and Florida State (right before they lost to sub-par FCS team Jacksonville State).

SMU's offense scored 30 (they had a kickoff return for a TD). USF had 2 KO returns for TD's (not that the D giving up 28 is great). TT had a pick 6, a score set up by an int and a meaningless TD at the end (plus their last meaningful TD came with 2:00 when the D was tired from the O leaving them on the field all game). Plus, Tech is 6-5, they'd be a title game contender in the AAC, they've had to play OU, Oklahoma State, K-State (7-win team) and Texas before their collapse when they were playing good.

Texas tech only beat Stephen F Austin by 6 and gave up 70 to Texas. Spin zone through the roof
