I believe this quote was about trying to draw them off sides on 4th down. It really was embarrassing. We put ourselves in such a bad position. I’m hoping they work things out for the next road game.

The thing is, all the conservatively coached games that Tressel won still doesn’t mean it was always right. There were probably many times where he should have been 10% more aggressive, but it just happened to not bite them.
I’d also say that he was a great coach, but if he was coaching now he would have to open it up more. Need more wide open attacks to beat a Clemson or AL.
Thank goodness on the first drive we WERE AGGRESSIVE - Remember we near the goal line and they made an aggressive call to throw it to Alec Pierce on the sideline to convert the 3rd down. We needed more aggressive play calling.
Bolded, or Georgia in the Peach? After Ford's touchdown run the UC offense went into a shell that put enormous pressure on our defense. We tend to focus on that errant pass on the final possession but in some ways the game was lost by not being more aggressive on offense most of the second half.
This is not to be a downer because we had a fine season last year and an eye opening performance against the Bulldogs in many ways. But against quality opponents that can both defend and score, it's going to take more creativity on key possesssions.

Maybe I'm remember differently, but I don't really remember the offense going into a shell. In fact, in the moment I thought we should have tried to run more in the second half. I just remember the offensive line really struggling in the second half and it took its toll on the passing game. Admitted I've refused to watch again.

Agreed. Once Metz replaced Hudson things went downhill fast. Could not protect Des, had penalties that stalled drives, etc.
One thing I will say is I think some folks are confusing aggressive playcalling with creative playcalling. It's not purely about the mix of run vs. pass (in my opinion), it's the types of runs/passes we are calling and in which situations. There are some games we get locked into a predictable playcalling pattern with the same runs/passes being called.

We were too aggressive on our last possession. That was the time to chew clock and not snap the ball with time on the big board. When our 3d down failed, we left them too much time. Argh, it hurts to discuss.

I always look at it like, if they would have won, a few of the guys wouldn't have come back. Also, they probably wouldn't be nearly as motivated.

If we get to the playoffs and win a game we legitimately could call it the greatest loss in the history of the program (maybe college football).

Well said. And I concur with the sentiment that Hudson leaving the game was a tipping point to some degree.

Bolded....This!
I think the playcalling has gotten hugely conservative overall in the past several games. Hopefully that is by design (to not show our late season key opponents anything to prepare for) and not because UC believes they can just out talent or overwhelm people with our reputation. Regardless of the reason, I would love to see it changed. It will energize the team and fanbase definitely and also show the voters how dynamic this team can be.

Bold, I think the Homecoming crowd will be ready for a large does of dynamic on Saturday.

Now that we know how the committee feels, does Anyone think Luke will be more aggressive On the road against less talented teams the rest of the year?
What do you think, Mark? Or will we get more Tressel ball? I pray he learns from it and is more aggressive and runs up the score a little bit.

CLF will never run up the score late. If we can take a big lead he’ll obviously do that, but then he stops.
