I would really (and I can't believe I'm saying this) miss App if they left.
But also…

RE: CUSA to propose "Reorganization" with AAC; AAC targeting UAB
If the AAC is wanting to add established football programs and project schools, Georgia Southern actually makes a lot of sense. Adding Marshall, App State, Coastal, Georgia Southern, and possibly Georgia State would give a good mix of rivalries, football powerhouses, and fill out a region. I still prefer the Sun Belt holding strong, but I wouldn’t hate this outcome, assuming the money was reworked.

RE: CUSA to propose "Reorganization" with AAC; AAC targeting UAB
Yes, CUSA is desperate as is the AAC. Anyone else who doesn't admit that they could just as easily be just as desperate is a fool. It would make the most sense for AppState, Coastal, Charlotte and ODU to be in the same conference. It probably makes the most sense for GaSo and GaSt to be in a conference with them. Then it gets muddled.
TxSt, UTSA, UTEP, UTA, North Texas and NMSt should also be in the same conference. Then things get muddled.
The Louisiana and Alabama schools can align with whichever group that they choose but unfortunately, no one really wants to invite the Florida schools to their party.

Thats true for CUSA---not so much for the AAC. The AAC was desperate to avoid having to add from the pool of available schools east of the Rockies because adding those was most likely to cause a drop in the TV deal. Now that there's no way around that----whats there to be desperate about? The only thing the AAC needs to do is decide whats most important to them---academics or being the #6 football conference? They really didnt have to make that choice when they thought they might get Boise, SDSU, CSU, and Air Force. They could have academics and solid football. With MW schools out of the picture---they will have to make that choice.
Once they decide between academics and football---the rest is easy. Dont be surprised if its a schizo split the difference compromise like UAB, Buffalo, AppSt, and Rice.

Could Delaney have talked with ESPN and perhaps the other networks? If he was able to guarantee all teams the same money the AAC was going to get anyway then this may have a shot.

You have to wonder that, don’t you? The pitch can’t be “leave the AAC and come be regional in C-USA on CBSSN, ESPN+, Facebook, Stadium and Twitter”, can it?
(Actually it can, we are talking about C-USA leadership here.)

A couple of the reports say the proposal is to form completely new conferences. Presumably, that would be carried out in a similar fashion as creating the AAC out of the Big East so automatic bids and NCAA payout shares could be maintained but media distribution contracts would have to be reworked.
This proposal is not entirely without merit, but the timing and obviousness of the motivation dooms it. It’s quite literally MacLeod reaching for the “RESET” button because the game is kicking her a**.

Except the original article even states from a source that media rights have not been priced for the regional conferences, so this is not a proposal that's seriously believed to ever have a shot at being accepted. This is just Judy wanting to look like she's doing something before the wolves rip apart C-USA, and Delaney trying to push what's always been his dream end goal for non-power football programs.

This is roughly what Judy McLeod is going to present, eventually, once the SB is included in the proposal.
Navy is left out. JMU included. Wichita in the west. Florida schools in the central. La. Tech separated from the other Louisiana schools.

LOL that in all the amounts of pride that would have to be swallowed and egos crushed to make something like that happen that La Tech would get to demand out of being with the rest of the Louisiana schools.

She's not going to get to "pitch" that to anyone. The AAC and Sun-Belt schools aren't getting in a room with her.

I think they're more collegial than that. These schools and conferences have to collaborate on some matters at times, such as CFP negotiations and NCAA reorganization. They'll politely listen, maybe not in person but by Zoom or something.
The answer will still be "No," and once the call is over, there will laughter.

Pretty much this. Its an attempt to save her job. She sees that the C-USA west programs are getting the most smoke around realignment (either to the AAC or MWC) and they are the ones keeping her employed. The East teams are going to can her if they get the chance.

This is like the owner of a store chain going in and proposing a swap of locations with another store chain owner and not offering any guidance as to revenue or what exactly the savings would be to shortening their supply chain.

I can see it now. “Okay UL and ULM, I know you guys are historically aligned with the Arkansas and Alabama schools and all, but Tech won’t play in a league with you, so you get to play UTEP instead!”
