RE: Alcohol Sales
clt says the eCu fan brings up an interesting point. Has having booze in the stadium impacted tailgating?

At Charlotte, we have only had one Saturday game so far, so it is hard to tell.

Booze in the stadium didn't seem to impact tailgating at Marshall. A lot of fans leave at half time to go drink at tailgates and then come back for the 2nd half. This has been a point of contention for awhile and there's been talk about barring readmission but it's never been implemented.

Ruston is located smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt. The city just got some alcohol sales allowed in restaurants some few years ago.

I think, though, if Skippy Holtz continues as coach, more and more locals will say, "I need a drink!" and we'll see some movement in that direction.

I don't know the numbers, but CLT's Gold Rush Lager is $9 for a pint can in the stadium, so I would guess we could fund a moon shot after a couple of years.

That's cool. I've never attended a game or any large event that let's you back in.

I was talking to a guy who works at MU and is pretty well connected and he said that Marshall is one of only 5 FBS schools that allows re-entry. If MU nixed that, there would be more people tailgating in the lot than in the stands.

ECU allows re-entry for Pirate Club members that have their card on-hand.

Joseph Goodman

@JoeGoodmanJr

Important news to share. Beers by Ghost Train, Back Forty, Trimtab, Cahaba Brewing, Avondale Brewing and Good People Brewing will all be on tap at Protective Stadium for UAB football games. The stadium has 342 beer taps. It’s glorious.

Plus there are bar drinks available.

They mark your hand with a colored sharpie.

I'm not sure about the band but I imagine they don't like it. Coach Huff also explicitly called out fans for leaving at half time at a press conference.

Leaving for half time is so culturally ingrained, it's going to be a mess when they eliminate it. Part of the problem is that concourse at the Joan is so cramped and outdated, it's quicker to walk out into the parking lot for a beer and food and come back in, than it is to wait in line for concessions.

A lot of people also go primarily for tailgating and games are an afterthought, which pisses the die-hards off.

And it's not limited to suites, sold openly inside the stadium on the concourses.
