GCU fans don't really give them that home court advantage though. They're too nice haha NMSU fans can usually get under the skin of other coaches and players.

For basketball, maybe. Definitely not football. NMSU football fans are unfailingly polite, at least in my limited experience.
After yet another debacle last night, I would like to submit NMSUs fan base as the craziest. We have to be certifiably insane to be an NMSU football fan. And that is probably why we’re overly polite Oscar, cuz the meds are just kicking in.

The loudest cheers during the game I attended were for the dog who retrieved the kicking tee.
I forgot the dogs name but he is already at work. He is Strikings younger brother. He was getting the tee’s right before halftime and the rest of the game. So the transition went smooth.

Grew-up with a Border Collie, and yes, his name was Smokey -- sure do miss him. Hope Striker II carries on in fine tradition.

It has to be those Lamar fans that still show up after at least twenty five years of mediocre basketball and the excuse for a football performance last weekend.

This fits the logic for “crazy” far more than Grand Canyon’s scripted-by-the-AD visual display.
I’m with Timbers Army and we’d never go for whatever bunk GCU is selling as atmosphere.

I think the contempt other school's fans have with GCU is the whole basketball atmosphere appears scripted. For most schools, fan support happens more spontaneously... instinctively... unpretentiously. For GCU, its all about selling/marketing an image; like the Havoc.

Timbers Army loves Timber Joey and his chainsawing logs after each goal, chants throughout the game and tifos.
Havocs love Thunder and the dumb stuff he does, they also chant throughout the game and have tifos.
TA and Havocs are apples to oranges. College kids vs adults, in two very different atmospheres.

Timbers Army loves when Joey shows up in the North End because he’s usually elsewhere and then the Timbers have scored. He doesn’t lead much of anything else, and TA like it that way.
Pete’s exactly right about the scripted nature of fanbases like GCU (and most of the major American sports). Although TA has been better.
Then there’s our front office. SMH. Merritt Paulson has always had the spoiled child vibe and Gavin Wilkinson as GM has been a bully from the moment he retired as a player, and there’s a history to say the least, but don’t doubt that they have a LOT to do with the current Thorns debacle (and maybe the whole set of issues with NWSL). Sorry for the hijack, but my need to vent is on overload.
GCU has made every home game a major student (Havoc) event. There was a time when NMSU students use to campout for games. However, those games had the Aggies playing an instate rival (UNM) and a national power (UNLV) at the time. Midnight Madness never was never a campout event.
