SBC looking to expand?
Why not? Everybody else is.

Well, almost everybody.

I definitely do not want Marshall to just up and join the Sunbelt.

That's what I think as well. Depending on who the AAC invites and who else is invited to the Sun Belt then I would strongly consider this as a Marshall fan.

There was a rumor a week or so ago about the Sun Belt commissioner being in Huntington, which at the time seemed a little crazy (why would he be in Huntington?) Now I'm wondering if it was true, and I will say the rumor came from one of our pay boards and came from what I consider the most reputable Marshall poster out there.

While football accounts for a large slice of pie of the driving force in expansion, it is not the only driving force. The Sun Belt knows this, which is why they are trying to use their COVID football season success as a selling point.

Once the AAC and Belt get done, whatever's left of CUSA won't be pretty.

I don't think the belt is waiting around on the AAC. There's been a lot of talk about Marshall in the east and USM in the west. I guess we all wait and see.

They don't have to sell anything....want to hear the only pitch needed?

You can stay in CUSA where Judy is in charge, or you can come to the Sun Belt where this cat turd is in charge. Which would you choose?

And for the record, Gill seems like an awesome commissioner for the Sun Belt, but even a cat turd would be better than Judy.

They are on the defensive. There is no way in hell Marshall joins the Sunbelt as currently constructed.

After the AAC expansion, there will be a pool of teams that will be considered either regional alignment, or a best of the rest configuration.

I really have honestly no desire to join the Sun Belt.

Speaking of on the defensive, did you see that weird, "We don't have anything to say" statement from the MWC?

That will never, never happen. There's no way Marshall is just going to join the Sun Belt.

That would be a major step down for all of our sports.

Where would our soccer go? The Sunbelt does not care about basketball.

This appears to be like the AAC trying to pull from the Big12 after it was announced that Texas and OU would bolt. The remaining C-USA programs need to laugh at this, and poach the best Belt programs if more than 2 teams leave for the AAC.

Despite their recent success on the football field the Sun Belt is still not the equal of C-USA. From budgets to basketball, C-USA is still the better conference.

Yeah I did man. I commented on the AAC board that their non-answer is super revealing. They are absolutely on the defensive as well.

S*** is going down y'all.

I know. It's sad. But don't the member school presidents basically make a bulk of decisions for the conference anyways? I was under the impression that most decisions within a conference are voted on by league presidents.

Soccer is definitely a big concern considering they don't even sponsor the sport.

Coastal, Ga So, and Ga St sponsor the sport though. We would make 4 teams. UK, WVU, USC could all switch their affiliations to the SBC I suppose.

I don't see us joining the SBC unless AAC takes ODU, Charlotte, WKU, FAU which would really leave us in a pickle in CUSA East.

I could be wrong of course, but I think we will need to wait and see what the AAC does first.

Someone tracked his tail number on one of the flight trackers. The tail number ended up at HTS, which is Tri-State airport in Huntington.

I think awesome might be stretching it a little. A very competent commissioner, a commissioner that knows how to actually run a conference, yes.

Something CUSA hasn't had in a while. Bonowsky checked out like a year half before he retired and Judy has been asleep at the wheel ever since she took over.

RE: SBC looking to expand?
This round the SBC raids for football, AAC raids for basketball. Who is left?

Other option would be the MWC adds some western AAC schools and CUSA merges with AAC remains.
