I'm thinking the problem is Kansas
It's not a football thing keeping us out of the Big 12 running. Ole Bill Self doesn't want to tangle with the Tigers on a regular basis. I think we have a perfect storm brewing for the upcoming season. New coaches to help Penny and a hell of a roster. Go Tigers!

I guess you e never watched Kansas play basketball. They play a lot of tough games, in conference and out. Self is not afraid of Memphis.

IKE's opinion is Kansas and Oklahoma state would welcome TIGERNATION, the 12 could arguably be the top b.ball conference in the country. Certainly a rival to ACC

RE: I'm thinking the problem is Kansas
I keep saying, don’t be part of the doom and gloom crowd or sky is falling crowd.

There are a lot of potential moves to play out. AAC, BiGX, and PAC have seen the SEC move and played coy. All 3 are not going to stand pat forever.

B12 has decided to be aggressive. OK and Tx will be made to feel as uncomfortable as possible. They won’t get a vote. They will wait 3 years and hate it or write the $80 mill check and get gone.

W. Va is a possible move to the ACC leaving a hole. BigX and could easily take 2.

The Corporate package will be put together. There is a reason Memphis Rising was dropped last week. You can bet Liberty Park will be a central pitch. Two hotels on the grounds. 15 minutes from the airport. 15 minutes to downtown.

We may have to wait a couple of years but the last chapter has not written.

RE: I'm thinking the problem is Kansas
TX and OK have held their own in basketball although Memphis and Cincy have better histories and Memphis right now is better looking for the near future

Houston has had a few really good years lately and some strong history from the late 1960s and obviously the early 1980s

While I still think the Big Ten, which took Rutgers and Maryland and Nebraska, will look to take Kansas and maybe Iowa State for a 16 of their own, Big 12 would still be an upgrade from the AAC in basketball (and football)

In 2010 we had a one win season. A year later we had two.

Enjoy the ride.

I'm confused... B12 already has three teams on probation, TCU and Oklahoma State, and Baylor.

I'm guessing it's mainly Texas keeping us out and they along with Oklahoma shouldn't even have a vote. The L8 are dumber than dirt for allowing them to have a say, since they caused this mess and are leaving anyway.

Texas and Oklahoma don't have any say, if the 8 leftovers are united.

Not confusing. He’s saying they don’t welcome the potential of yet another one. We check that box with an impending infractions case. Pick a number. They don’t want it. Especially when they are desperate to remain relevant.

It is confusing because they have had 3 teams on proby and another one looming. So saying they are overly concerned about proby is confusing. Is 5 the magic number? They are okay with 4 teams, but 5 is crossing the line?

We are doing a lot of things to build our resume. One of the best things the Tigers could do immediately that would surely elevate our profile would be to go out and win a Natty in hoops this year. I know the driver is fb, but bb is not totally irrelevant. Have a good 8-9 win season in fb, then run through the NCAA in bb.

I get that angle, but if they were truly concerned, they would have done a lot more to Baylor. It seems that everything they have told us is bull****. Fully 4 of the 8 are in some sort of trouble right now.

This, and what Tigerx3 said. The school continues to work on moving up the rankings academically and if the main conference drivers, football and basketball, have good showings, then Memphis is positioned to be next in line.

I picture Memphis being that awkward looking girl at the dance who didn't get picked, but at the same time I can't believe the dust has fully settled. The $EC has positioned themselves as the top dog by far and it has put everyone else on notice. I can't imagine that the Big 10 and ACC are going to sit around waiting for the next shoe to drop, they're going to do the same because all it would take is one or two key players and they're in the same boat. We're not going Big 10, the ACC would be an extreme long shot, but the Big 12 might still be open to expanding to try to keep up.
